Today I am grateful for:

Just continuing to make it through each of these scorching hot/now smokey days.

I did have a phone conversation with Mom, which was nice.

Today wasn't quite as hot, but now it is a bit smokey so it's not really very pleasant outside.

I did the dishes, put away some laundry, and once again mostly just killed time inside while sweating.

My Sweetie came home right after work today, and started the process of backing up everything on our computer so he can reinstall Windows, as he has tried everything else to get the sound back and nothing works. He will likely do the actual reinstall tomorrow.

So it's been about ten days without sound, which just sucks. Yes, I have still been on the computer, but it's really not the same. Not much point in watching a show.

Once it got a little cooler I went to see River, and our work was okay. He stayed with me well, and gave me a good effort.

Then I came home and right away worked with Wonder and Dandy for not very long, but I didn't want to burn them out (or me) so when I got what I wanted (for them to walk beside each other both ways all the way around the round pen with good halts) I stopped there.

Wonder especially was very "with" me today. She's figuring out that "leaving" is not much fun (she gets to go work a bit on the rail if she doesn't want to stay with me).

Then I came in, and that's about it. Every night we do our best to cool off the house with opening windows and using fans, and it helps a lot, but still heats up a lot during the day.

A small window-shaker or a penguin might be a good thing - and easily removable when the hot days are done.

(Here, that'll be in 2-1/2 months, and I'm already looking forward to it.)

A little unit isn't that much bother to install (or to remove for the winter), but it makes a lot of difference. Just be sure to seal the gaps between the a/c wings and the window frame, or you'll still smell smoke and outside air.

A little window-shaker for just one room would make a real difference! I hope spouse will understand and get one while the 30˚+ days are still happening.
