Today I am grateful for:

The eaves trough people came and did their thing. Our house now has new eaves troughs, as does the barn (it carries water away from the barn, and will help keep the dirt floor/stored hay dry).

I did manage to get some sleep.

I talked with Sister S, who has seen Trainwreck a few times. She was fairly solemn about Trainwreck's condition; I think she really would have died if her sons hadn't driven to see her and spent the whole night convincing her to go to emergency.

Sister S's partner works installing internet and cable (I think?), and he fell and hurt his face (the drill he uses landed on it) and the back of his head when he fell. He's recovering, but that had to be awful.

So Sister S is trying to take care of her not a good patient partner, and her two young grand children (because the parents are in the middle of moving to a new house). She's feeling pretty overwhelmed.

We talked about Trainwreck moving to be where her sons could see her more often, and she mentioned that it was going to be up to them to "keep her from drinking again".

This bothers me a lot, because no one is going to stop her from drinking again. So what are they supposed to do? Go to her place and toss it for hidden liquor and pour it down the drain every day? It shouldn't be their responsibility.

She says she won't go to AA, or any other help, so what is going to keep her from drinking again? She only "quit" because she's in a hosptital. Every other time she's "quit", she's literally standing there with a water bottle full of vodka, lying to everyone's face.

So, another waste of time and energy talking about her addiction.

I went to see River. We had a lesson today. I managed to ask questions that yielded good results, and led to a better understanding of some of the movements and got some good homework.

River did well today, and I was able to be very positive and focused. Every day that I can be this way means much better work, and a happier horse.

I came home and my Sweetie got there about the same time. I let everyone out for a while, and picked raspberries. We have probably picked a few gallons now, and frozen them.

My husband loaded up the truck with all of the metal crap and a few old car batteries he's been saving up to make a trip to the metal yard, and he plans to turn it all in tomorrow after work. This was one of the things we agreed to do this week when we had our planning session, so I'm happy to see it actually taking place.

We got our first armful of big zucchinis, and had one for supper.

We watched an episode of "Raylon, you idiot" (Justified).
