Aug. 22nd, 2024 12:59 amToday I am grateful for:
Nice temperatures, right around 24 C.
Kitty snuggles.
The bouquet from last week still looks amazing. It's been almost a week, and only one or two of the flowers look a little droopy.
I awoke to a message from Trainwreck's phone from her friend John, effectively snitching on her. Trainwreck is supposed to be staying with Sister N, mainly because she is still physically fragile, but instead she went back to her own apartment.
I talked to her, and she seemed smug about her lie to everyone, because OF COURSE she wasn't going to stay with Sister N, there's no privacy there!
Well, she's not a kid, and it isn't my job to make her take care of herself. I just told her straight out "well, that's fine. If you f*ck up, you're dead". That's nothing more than the truth. If Trainwreck starts drinking again, or doesn't take care of herself, there's nothing left that any of us can do to help her.
AND I have to stop worrying about what she does. I cared enough to make a phone call to save her life, but if she doesn't care enough to save her own life, what more can be done? I won't call her every day to check up on her like I'm going to catch her in the act and try to make her do something about it.
Moving on.
I did some laundry, cleaned the bathroom, did normal animal care chores, and checked the garden for cucumbers and found a few nice ones.
I talked to my Sweetie while he was at work about goals from our work sheet, and he was able to start filling out the online permit for the car port we hope to build before winter.
I called the mechanic who has our X-terra still. That's been something we were sorting out the last couple of days, is that it SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN SOLD, and yesterday I stopped in, in person, to talk to him. There was confusion about who owned it, and who he was selling it for, etc. so I had to clear everything up with K (R's husband at the barn, who was going to buy it for their daughter, but ended up not buying it).
The vehicle has been sitting at the mechanic's for about two months now, and NO ONE THOUGHT IT WAS WORTH FIGURING OUT WHY it was still there.
So, I talked with K, then my husband, then today I called the mechanic back, told him that WE still owned it, as K backed out of the sale, to go ahead and take it to the next local auction as per earlier agreement, and be DONE WITH THIS SILLINESS.
All of this is because of this weird man thing where they won't call each other to straighten something out. Literally how long would that vehicle have to sit there for my husband to actually call the mechanic and ask what was going on, or for the mechanic to call us and ask what was going on? How do men actually function if they are not willing to call people to sort things out?
Then I ordered a set of winter tires from him for my vehicle.
Sigh.
I went to the riding barn, we had a lesson today.
River wasn't super perky, but better than yesterday. Our focus for today's lesson was working on getting more draw from the front, hard to explain. I was a little underwhelmed, as it feels like a step back, but I understand why we have to do it.
As we were finishing up, the weather turned and it was raining, then hailing, so R and I stood in the barn and chatted, mostly about this other horse that's at her place for training, and how he needs to stay at the barn somehow and be used by someone and have his weight managed, rather than the owner taking him back home to rot in a pasture and get morbidly obese and likely founder.
I came home and decided not to let animals out into their pastures, because I wasn't sure if the storm was coming to our place or not (not really, which sucks because we could have used the rain, though not the hail so much).
We watched an episode of "Justified".

Date: 2024-08-23 08:08 am (UTC)It's how we've done things with him, and I'll be honest, I don't know why it's done this way and why we don't seem to specify a brand. We would certainly care if we went to a tire shop.
He will just make sure you get good ones, and we trust him. It is weird. I hadn't even given that much thought until you asked.
