Aug. 23rd, 2024 02:22 amToday I am grateful for:
A quiet day at home. I didn't have a lot of "oomph" today, but I got a few things done, nonetheless.
I tried to talk with my Mom, but she kept hanging up the phone. It's like she doesn't know that you're still trying to talk to her, and somewhere in her mind she's "done", so she hangs up.
I did normal chores and such, and then went into the garden and picked beans. We are not going to get much of a garden this year, and I don't know why. The potatoes don't look like we're getting much, a lot of the beans didn't get very tall, the peas did nothing, and a lot of the beets didn't germinate.
We did get radishes, it looks like we're going to do okay for cucumbers, and likely zucchini, some carrots, maybe turnips (the tops look good, we'll see if the roots fill out) and we got lots of raspberries.
I did get SOME beans, but we aren't going to get the pails and pails of beans we usually get.
Then I let everyone out into their pastures for a while, and pulled weeds out of the areas I mulched with cedar chips. All that, and we're still getting a fair number of weeds in it.
When my husband got home, he went biking. He hasn't biked much in the last couple of weeks, and he NEEDS to keep that up if he's going to participate in the MS bike ride soon. It's a pretty challenging ride.
When he got home he helped me pull weeds for a while, then we went in and watched an episode of "Justified".
