Aug. 30th, 2024 12:11 amToday I am grateful for:
Nice weather today, around 20 C. It actually got a light frost last night! Thankfully it doesn't look like it damaged the garden.
I got up and did usual chores etc, and some laundry.
I talked to my Sweetie at work to see if the telephone people called back about our landline, and he said they did, but it still took up a ton of his time and was a terrible annoyance with trying to prove he was the account holder. I really don't know what they expect people to do, if we have to call them for service and they don't believe we are the account holders. I don't even know if there's a way to go into a physical location anymore. A land line is a pretty antiquated concept, and I wonder if we should bother keeping it if it is so complicated.
The main reason why I want it, is because we are very rural, and I am alone when my husband works at locations. I worry that if I lose my cell phone, or the local cell tower service goes out (which has happened), OR I need to find my cell phone by calling it (a few times), I need a land line. There have been times too when there's been really bad reception and the land line was clear when the cell phone connection was very bad in our house.
So apparently someone is coming tomorrow to look at the lines, I don't know if they need access to the house. The last time we had issues, the damage was at the box where our line connects to the larger system and it's not inside the house.
My Sweetie went to some of our "house work trading friends" place to help them with some wiring. My Sweetie gave them a considerable amount of heavy electrical cable that he salvaged from a job site years and years ago, and we've never needed. It's worth a lot of money, so it was a pretty nice favor to do for our friends, never mind how much money it saves them to have my Sweetie do the wiring. They are installing an outdoor hot tub.
I picked some more beans and more of the nice zucchini hybrids from the garden.
Then I painted some more in the mud room. I was able to get a second coat on the walls that I painted last week.
When my Sweetie got home from helping our friends, he did a bit of painting in a hard to reach corner that required a ladder above the stairs.
Then we went for a walk for a while at the "other" park down the road. The one that used to be a farm. It's a nice park, not that big or wild, but nice.
Then we watched some "Justified".
