Sep. 5th, 2024 01:24 amToday I am grateful for:
Good sleep, kitty and Roxy snuggles when I got up.
I did a few small things like putting away dishes etc. then went outside. I did normal chores and then mowed for a while. I'm surprised at the grass still growing a bit, since we've had so little rain.
Then I went to the barn, we had a lesson today. It was good, we worked on our stationary circle (which is improving), and then did ridden work. We went back to the basics a bit because River likes to lean on the bitless bridle, so some lateral bends and the one rein stop to make sure he can still do one. We did a "mock walk/trot/canter" class, since R is having a show for the people at the barn at the end of the month, and there will be a class like this in it. River and I haven't been doing much of this kind of formal equitation for some time, so it's good to remember how to do it. We also worked on getting a bit of collection riding with just the neck rope.
I came home and let everyone out, but took Wonder and Dandy to the round pen to work first. They did okay, but Dandy is always pretty unhappy if we work BEFORE he gets to graze. Still, I'm happy with our progress.
I did see the "fence cat", a young looking fellow that is likely a neighbor's barn kitty. We have a rail fence around the horse pasture, and a few times over the years there have been cats who enjoy walking all the way around our pasture on the fence, as it gives them a very good view of everything from up there. It's fun to see.
Then we watched another episode of "Pacific".
