Today I am grateful for:

A little cooler, but still warm.

I had to get up in the morning like a statistically normal person today, which means I didn't really get any sleep.

We took Roxy to the specialist veterinarian for a consultation, which a pricey way to learn about your options. It still wasn't NEWS, but a more clear idea of how the future would look for Roxy if we did not do the surgery (the possibility of it not getting much worse OR, the chance of it getting progressively worse over time as the joints got more arthritic).

The surgery of doing what is called a "PTLO" on her hind legs is VERY expensive, but I have seen how comfortable R's dog is after her surgery. It's like she doesn't have anything wrong with her hind legs at all.

For many dogs, after the surgeries (each leg) and recovery, after about six months they can go back to normal walks and activity.

Roxy is not young (already about ten), but she might have several years left that would be much nicer years if she were able to go on longer walks again.

We are leaning towards the surgery, and just considering when to do it.

We were in the city already, and did some other things, my Sweetie got his oil changed, we got groceries.

Then we came home and he packed and began the long trip to see his parents.

I slept for a few hours, but I still feel weird. My day got flipped, kind of.

I talked with my pottery friend D, that I've texted with a bit over the summer, but now we're getting ready to do pottery again. She went today, which is the day we normally go.

I feel better about the situation with the additional beginner's class, because it sounds like Monday CAN still work for me, even though it also sounds like I might have to go in earlier (which might be tough but I can try) and apparently I would be allowed to work during the beginner's class (it is scheduled for when I used to work in the evening).

I hope it works, and I hope I still get to see my pottery friend.

We talked a LONG TIME, and it was nice to do so. I enjoy her company very much. She asked if I would like to get together with her and do some watercolor painting tutorials together, which would be fun.

I don't blame you for thinking that surgery might be the best option.

If you opt for it, you can do it in the winter when it's too cold for outdoor activity anyway.

Glad schedules have worked out with pottery, that you have a pottery friend, and that there's hope for more friendship in the future to enjoy!

Glad you have at least options for Roxy and hope you both feel peace at whatever you decide.
