Sep. 25th, 2024 01:29 amToday I am grateful for:
Glorious fall weather, warm and sunny with beautiful golden leaves.
D from pottery called, asking if I would like to go for a walk down at the park near us, the one we usually go to.
I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt about her "you should just get here early" comments and go.
We did have a very good visit, and walked for over an hour, which was great. We talked about the situation in the studio with all the crowding and being forced to work early, me having had some time to cool down a bit so it was more objective and more in "problem solving mode" than in anger mode.
For whatever reason, she did not offer "get up early" as a solution today, so that was nice.
I'm glad I went, I'm glad she asked, and it was a nice afternoon together.
I like walking in general, and I like walking with someone and talking about all kinds of things. At different points in my life when I've had friends who would do so, I've always loved it when they would walk and talk with me. It's one of my favorite things to do with my husband.
I think if "get up early" comes up again, I will try to have a civil response ready that still honors myself.
After the walk, I went straight to the barn. River's breathing wasn't great today, since it was fairly warm out, but he really tried for me.
We worked in the outdoor arena since it was so beautiful, but on the sandy track the footing wasn't great, so it's not easy to ask him to work when he's sinking in the wet sand. There is a grassy part we could do some of the work on.
I got to see some of the cool things R is doing, she's doing "team liberty" with two of her horses, and it's coming along really well.
Then I came home and my Sweetie had let everyone out into their pastures, so I brought them back in, and we ate and watched more "1883".
While it is a VERY dramatic portrayal of the journey West, it is good.
