Sep. 26th, 2024 11:32 pmToday I am grateful for:
It rained last night, which we needed (maybe some of the farmers might disagree) and today was clear, and cool, with fresh air.
I decided to try and get something done today, just things that always need doing.
I had a bunch of summer clothes hanging in the bedroom, things I wore once so they weren't dirty, but this late in the year I am not likely to wear them again before winter, so I took everything and washed it, and I'll put it away for the season.
Then I addressed a pile of stuff on my dresser, and so on.
I did some laundry, put away some laundry, cleaned up the cat litter box that somehow got tipped over with a pile of litter on the floor. I took some dead house plants outside, and cleaned up the area where they had been sitting.
While my husband was still at work I talked to him about trying to get something done when he got home, since the weather is still okay but cold weather is coming. There is a small peak overhang that should be over our front door that was taken down to put up the siding but never put back.
Once again, because our house is "functional", I'm fairly sure that if I don't press this issue it will go unfinished indefinitely.
When he came home, he did start on that, but today he was only able to more or less "assess what needs to be done to fix it".
While he was doing that, I mowed. I managed to mow everything in our yard that we mow, which is fairly impressive to do all at once, ride on lawnmower or not. It might be the last time we need to mow this year. We'll see.
The animals got to go in their larger pastures, and when I was done mowing I worked with Dandy and Wonder for a while in the round pen. Dandy on his own is doing really well, and today I got him to stay with me around the pylons, and to trot a bit. Then I worked with them together, and after some initial silliness I got them to go around the pylons with me as a team.
I'm fairly proud of this, as Wonder has always been a very excitable horse to do ANYTHING with, and when we got Dandy he wanted nothing to do with people. To have them now doing some basic work at Liberty feels like an accomplishment, because I am training them at home myself. To get TWO horses to work together at Liberty even more so.
Yes, it's all baby steps right now, but it's still pretty cool.
Then I came in and we ate and watched more "1883".

Date: 2024-09-28 07:12 am (UTC)It had to be taken down to do the siding, and somehow it...just never got put back up, but that also left kind of an unfinished area in the siding that wouldn't look finished until it was put back up.
Also, part of taking it down was a light fixture, and that light fixture was left just sort of dangling down the outside of the house, and was quite and eyesore.
Tell me, if you can, how someone can leave a mess like that but tell you that "the siding is finished" and think that they are done?

"They must have slipped under the counter ::grin::"
I'm told there is great progress cleaning big garbage cans of garbage papers upstairs. I look forward to seeing and then believing.

Date: 2024-10-01 05:17 am (UTC)He does that with things that could easily be stored, though. The bike inner tubes are not like his favorite pen or something that have to sit handy for use. They are there for the day that his tires go flat. He even has a plastic pail (meant for cleaning in the house that he took out to the garage for cleaning his bike chains and is now ruined for cleaning in the house. We literally have dozens of crap old pails he could have used, but he took a new, clean, white pail from the house for this, I couldn't find it, found it in the garage full of bike chain grease and his chain cleaning equipment and cleaning fluid bottles) that he could put these into.
