Today I am grateful for:

Managing to more or less not sleep last night so I could attend our barn's fun show.

It started at 9 am, but of course you had to come early, and that was so weird for me to be up at that time.

I'm grateful that my Sweetie could come today, as he really is part of the whole barn thing now, and people are happy that he shows up. He also helps wherever he's needed whether it's holding someone's horse while they run to the bathroom or opening gates for mounted participants, picking up manure, setting up and removing obstacles, and so on.

Overall it was a good day. River could breathe today, so he had decent energy. We placed in a couple of the classes which is nice, though I also feel that in some of the classes the judging was kind of...off. Like people not being penalized for not doing elements of the class correctly.

It's always nice to see the other people at the barn that I don't see a lot unless we have an event like this, since our lessons or ride times don't overlap. I got to meet one nice barn person's husband, and he's hilarious. I hope he comes along to a few other events, since family is always encouraged to come to things.

River really did well today, in terms of all the people and other horses and the many distractions. He stayed focused in the arena, and did everything asked of him. Whether or not we placed in every class, I was really happy with how our communication was today, and our connection. He put in a very good effort with everything, with not a lot of chance to warm up before hand.

We got tickets for placing that could be used in an auction for prizes donated by people and some businesses, and I won a lovely hand made mug made by one of the other riders, with a soft grooming brush for horses.

I am also grateful that the weather was cool and crisp, which is good for River, but it didn't become rainy or windy or otherwise unpleasant. R was worried that she might have to cancel her show, and I know how hard she worked to plan it.

I was also very happy for some of the other people there today, who have come so far with their horses and their confidence. Whether they placed or not, for those people to just make it through the class with their horse being calm through the obstacle class for example, is a big win. For some it was their first time showing, others it was their first time showing at a canter, for others it was a training experience for a young horse.

We got home just in time to give Roxy her medication and to do normal chores (kind of weird, right? Like a "reverse day" for me).

We had a nap for a while, then got up and had supper and watched "Ali G in the house" which was pretty much just trash, but sort of funny.
