Today I am grateful for:

Well, so far Roxy looks okay.

I was supposed to pick her up this afternoon, since when the vet office called at 9am, they said that things were looking good and felt she could go home.

When I drove there in the afternoon, they changed their minds. She did look good and so on, but her pancreatic enzyme levels were not as low as they would like, and her stool was still loose.

I agreed to have her stay another night with IV fluid, since they said she needed it, and at least it seems that she is relaxed and calm about it all. I guess all the kennel training we did with her as a pup paid off.

After a bit of reading, a lot of information about pancreatitis says that dogs often stay on IV fluid multiple days, and I would rather do that than just take her home to have it get worse again.

Since I was there anyhow, I spent some time with her outside (it was almost exactly the time they take all the overnight patients out to walk and do any business before they closed anyhow, so they didn't have to do that, and she likely got a much longer time outside this way).

I did my best to seem calm and relaxed for her, so that she would be okay with me leaving again. It wasn't easy to do.

One thing I came across in my reading, is the relationship with gall stones and pancreatitis, and the gall stones would only be detectable with an ultrasound machine, which this clinic doesn't have. I think tomorrow I will ask what they think about this.

It was late enough by then that I had to drive from the vet clinic straight to the riding barn, so about 45 minutes. I'm sure driving a lot this week.

I was not very happy to find that R had "made room" for another rider to have a lesson on short notice, and that because this other person couldn't be there early enough to have the time slot before me, they took part of that earlier time slot, and they would be sharing part of my lesson time. NOT GOOD AT ALL. They were not there for the entire lesson, but the time that they were there meant that my lesson basically was a write off. It was stupid. I just worked in the middle doing stuff that R just went "looks good" while she coached the other rider.

I need to talk to R about this, because I have had her do this before, and it is never BETTER for me, and she charges me the same amount.

She didn't ask me first, and it's not what I agreed to pay for.

The whole lesson felt all over the place and messy as a result, since it felt like it had no focus.

We did work on ideas for the upcoming freestyle, and some generic work on liberty circles.

So I went home, and my Sweetie got there about the same time, and we ate, and talked a lot about Roxy, and watched an episode of "Justified".
