Today I am grateful for:

Roxy is doing well. She's been very "cheerful" and again, I only now see how her demeanor before treatment was kind of dull and subdued, but I kept thinking it was only because of her hind legs. What's odd, is that now even her hind legs don't seem to bother her as much, and if her issues with her pancreas were just causing a lot of generalized pain and inflammation.

More of a fun day in the city with my Sweetie.

We had a fairly relaxed approach to the day, which is nice.

I had two main goals, and we accomplished those.

I wanted to get new lightweight riding pants (they're like "technical tights" these days from the equestrian store, and I found a pair.

The last summer weight pants (that I'm still wearing, for now) lasted two summers, which I suppose isn't BAD, given that I go to the barn about four times a week, (lets say two summers at twenty weeks each, forty weeks times four rides a week, so the pants likely got worn roughly 160 times. That's a LOT MORE than pretty much any other item of clothing I own, so I shouldn't feel too badly that they were expensive, and now worn out.

The ONLY PART that wore out was right in the crotch, and I tried to repair it, but anywhere I sew that material, it just pulls another hole. It's kind of a pure lycra material. I kind of feel badly about it, because the rest of the pants are absolutely fine, the seams are perfect and everything.

Oh well.

Then we went to a costume store, one I went to a year or so ago for fun, and this time for specific things for the Beetlejuice costume. I got a very cheap black tie, a beard that I'm going to use for hair since I didn't see a wig that would work (I'm just going to tuck it into my helmet), some temporary hair dye in a spray can for River, and some makeup (good quality face paint that can be used for other future costumes too, or for the next time I need to be Beetlejuice).

I got talking with the woman helping us, as I asked her if she had a "theatrical background", since this is a true costume store for theatrical productions and indie movies, and not just a Halloween store. It's there all year round.

She said she did not have a background in theater, but she is a Drag King. We talked about that for quite a while, though I felt a little nervous in case I said anything inappropriate. I get a little nervous when anyone talks about "gender identity" because it isn't a conversation I grew up having, and I'm not always sure if I'm doing it right.

I think I did okay, as nothing shut the conversation down, so....WheW!

We went to a thrift store, one of the "not that beneficial" chains, more for fun that a specific goal, but we did find two nice light blankets, and I found a pretty scarf.

Then we ate a vegan restaurant we've been to before, and my Sweetie had their "Thanksgiving" meal, and it was pretty good. I ate a bit of his plate, as I often do. I had a "chicken" wrap and soup, which is what I usually get at this place. His meal came with a vegan cheesecake which I have no idea what it was made of if not cheese. I would normally be okay eating cheese as I am vegetarian, but the restaurant was fully vegan.

Then we went to the used book store and found a few items.

We stopped into what is now a "Community Organic Food Store" that had been a different store a while ago, so it's similar, but it's a lot more focused on food now rather than high end "organic lifestyle products". We got some quinoa that I am not convinced was a good price, but my husband just had a very strong urge to buy quinoa, so who am I to argue.

It was a good day, low stress yet achieved the goals.
