Oct. 24th, 2024 01:10 amToday I am grateful for:
Decent weather. Cool but not below freezing, and sunny.
I was able to sleep well enough last night.
So many sweet moments every day with the animals.
I was able to get ready for recording the Beetlejuice freestyle without too much drama. I had everything all laid out last night, the jacket, the shirt, the tie. I had to put on face makeup and that went well.
It's good quality, proper theater makeup, and it felt weightless once it was on and set with powder.
I did my best to accept that River would likely be very slow today, since we've had something going on between us this last couple of weeks where he's not being terribly interested in working.
So, I thought our freestyle went well, even in it's abbreviated format, even though he was very, very slow. He did everything in a calm manner, we looked good, and it got done.
We can work on being forward later, but because of this freestyle, I couldn't get into the work we need to do to get more responsive and forward again, because if this makes sense, for a while the work to be forward and responsive can create a bit of energy where what he would rather do is leave instead of come with me.
Anyhow, after it was all finished, R did work with him a bit on the forward/responsive, since this was our lesson day and we had some time left after recording.
He improved a lot in the short session with her, and frankly it made me feel like crap that he could so quickly respond to her cues, but has been so sluggish with me this last while. Yet, it's good that he did respond well, and hopefully I can improve my communication with him.
So, I guess that's where we start. Again.
I am glad that River did so well with having temporary hair dye sprayed on him, and makeup around his eyes, and how very well he handled me wearing a crazy getup and face makeup and so on.
Hopefully these images show up. I'll try to post the link to YouTube soon.

I have to say I am just very relieved to have it all done with. Parts of it were fun, but it kind of took up a lot of my mental bandwidth this month.
What was nice, is that R was "back to normal" and again not once did she mention the events of this last weekend, though on another level it made it feel even more surreal, like some kind of alien abduction that no one wants to talk about.
I got home and my Sweetie got home about the same time. He had a good night of climbing at the gym.
I spent about 15 minutes getting off the face makeup, though it did finally all come off.
We watched an episode of "Justified". This last season is so good I'm really going to miss it. It's way better than the last two were.
