Today I am grateful for:

That the response of so many people to the election, is that people just have to love each other harder through all of this, and hopefully we'll get through together.

Sure, I'm in Canada, but the U.S. election has an ENORMOUS impact on our country, as trading partners, and in terms of the attitudes that surfaced LAST time, probably rearing their heads again.

I tried to just absorb all of the beauty I could today, in being with my animals mostly.

I was able to work with Dandy and Wonder together today in the pasture, and did a little better with having them both stay with me. They didn't get a lot of time in the pasture, but they got some time.

My husband stayed in the city after work today to help one of our "house work exchange" buddies with getting sheets of OSB up into the room above their garage. It's not a big room, it's like an attic, and I guess it's going to be a man cave.

I went to see River, for our lesson, and I was all tensed up wondering if R (who likes Trump, for whatever reason) was going to say anything. I didn't know if I could trust myself not to blow up at her.

I also made a small statement, when once again the people having a lesson right before me started running over into my time slot. I was waiting outside the arena, and I would be visible through the panels in the doors, and after a few minutes of waiting, I just took River and went back into the barn.

This happens a little too often. Well, it happens pretty much every lesson. Whoever R has before me, the lesson usually bleeds into what should be my lesson time. Why not program an alarm into your phone to give you a five minute warning or something?

The reason it bothers me, is that there is a lesson right after mine, and it's taught by R's husband K. She respects HIS lesson time with that student, and very very rarely do we bleed into their time. So that means that if her first lesson bleeds into mine by ten minutes, well...I lose ten minutes of my lesson. I don't get them back by going over the hour.

I want to make a point about that to her without a confrontation.

Anyhow, she sort of dipped her toes in the water by saying "whew, good thing that election is over!" likely hoping I might chime in there with "hooray to that orange sack of shit leader", but I just left it right where she set it down, and pretty much refused to comment.

The lesson was good. River was in a good mood, with decent energy, and we worked on all the same things we've been doing lately. Focus on staying right with me, and moving from collection to extension in the walk, trot, canter using just the neck rope.

I love that horse. Yes, when he's got very low energy over the summer it's really tough working with him, but I know it's not his fault. Generally when he's feeling better in the colder months, we have better rides. I really appreciate how far we've come together, how much better in general our sessions are, and for a horse that was super shut down, how much he's offering now.

I came home and my husband wasn't home yet, and texted to say they were still working and he already ate. So, I made something to eat and watched "The Descendants" which was pretty good.

My Sweetie got home part way through the movie and we caught up on each other's day before he went to bed.

I want to offer my condolences to those here today who voted for Harris. I genuinely hope that you (and all of us) can pull together and support each other, and hopefully we can all weather this together.
