Nov. 20th, 2024 12:08 amToday I am grateful for:
Decent sleep, though there were SO MANY dreams.
The horse blanket I washed last night was dry, so I was able to take it with me to the barn today, and leave it there for when it is needed.
I ran out of time to work with Wonder and Dandy. Everywhere I turned was some niggling thing I had to fix or find or do before I could go outside.
I did get a blanket on Wonder. It's supposed to be down to -15 C tonight.
I briefly saw my Sweetie before I went to the barn.
River did well today on our Liberty work on the ground. Nice and forward and with me.
Ridden work was good in that he was trying, but he was strange in his canter, and I'm not sure what was going on. Not lameness, but like he kept falling in on his shoulder, something he doesn't usually do. He just wasn't loose and fluid like he normally is.
Still, he tried hard, so I'll give him that.
D from pottery called as I was putting things away at the barn to let me know there IS some kind of pottery meeting on December 1. Dear god, I hope this doesn't turn into some kind of blood bath. All I want from this is to prevent this one person from becoming a dictator, and to form some kind of governing policy so we have a framework to guide decision making, AND to involve the members in that process in a meaningful way.
Apparently there was also drama on Monday during what is my class time, though I didn't go this week. Some people from the evening class showed up very early, in what is actually the afternoon class time.
I have some blame in this, as I have been encouraging to these two women, saying that we aren't THAT formal about the classes (we never used to be, but it seems like we have to be now, with so many members). I had offered to help them a bit, but I DID say that it was only to WATCH me, not to work, and that if they came later when everyone else was gone they would likely be okay.
So, of course none of that happened the way I envisioned, and it created more friction.
The upside of those women showing up in the Monday afternoon class, is that they are not competent potters, and finally the former president of the craft center got to witness how badly they are doing. She might be "retired" but she still knows how to get things done and people respect her. Those women have been in pottery for two years now, and they know NOTHING, which is part of my issues about S being an instructor. If someone is going to call themselves an instructor, then they'd better damn well teach their students useful things about how to actually make pottery and use the studio correctly.
Well, all of this will likely be aired at the meeting, and I HOPE it is aired in a rational, calm, problem-solving manner where we can all be civil and productive.
Sigh.
I came home and my Sweetie made a nice meal. He got home fairly early today and went straight to baking himself some banana bread, so he made supper too.
I ended up finishing my conversation with D at home, and it ate into our "show" time. Also sigh.

Date: 2024-11-20 08:32 am (UTC)We've been hovering around 10 - 14˚C, but in the next few days we'll dip into single digits. My overwintering plants are in, but I'd like to blow/rake the leaves up and pick boughs for decorating before we get an arctic blast.
