Today I am grateful for:

Getting up at not too bad a time, so that we could go to the city today.

For my Sweetie often doing nice things for me, like feeding the critters on the weekend and making me breakfast.

It had been snowing, but it's that soft, fluffy snow. It was pretty slushy and not great to drive on in the city, but the other roads weren't too bad.

We got MOST of our objectives accomplished today.

The first thing was to donate several bags of fabric and a bag of usable clothing. The fabric was supposed to go to a woman on Facebook marketplace who is a quilter. I wanted her to have it, because it was small pieces of a lot of different fabric, and was best given to a quilter because few other people would have a use for it.

I have been trying to meet with her for a few weeks now. When I first offered it to her, I thought she lived close to us because she had quilts for sale listed under our local buy/sell region, but she doesn't live nearby, she lives in the city but advertises on a lot of different buy/sell pages, so that meant that it wouldn't be convenient for me to take the fabric to her.

I tried to meet her and it wasn't working, so today I had tried ONE MORE TIME to meet up with her since we would be in the city (where she actually lives) but she was away at a trade show.

I decided to just donate the fabric. Part of me didn't WANT to donate it now, since it might not be appreciated (a lot of random small pieces), but I have had some of this fabric for over ten years and I haven't done anything with it. It's time.

I took it to a place that the last time I went there, had bins of all kinds of small sized fabrics for people just to pick through and pay by the pound, and the rest gets shredded and used for insulation or something.

I had a strange exchange with the woman who was in receiving, because I had to explain a couple of times that some of the donation was usable clothing (they have a section of clothes too) and some was torn old jeans (I thought they would use them as fabric) and the rest was usable fabric.

She seemed oddly confused about my donation, and I hope it doesn't all end up just being shredded. SURELY someone there is sharp enough to see that it's intended as fabric?

Well, I can't lose sleep over it. It wasn't serving a purpose sitting in boxes and lurking in piles in our house.

So, that was three big shopping bags of stuff donated, and hopefully it goes on to serve a useful purpose.

Then we went to the equestrian store, and I bought a special "Back on Track" sheet for warming up River's back before we ride, or maybe during our ride. It's supposed to improve blood circulation to tight muscles.

Then we went to the art gallery, but it was closed to the public for an event, so that sucked a bit, but what can you do.

Since we had paid for parking for an hour, we walked down the street to a mall and went to the Winner's there to see if they had any athletic pants for my husband.

I think THIS particular Winner's location gets nicer stuff than I've seen at other stores. Way nicer than the Winner's in the small town I usually get groceries. I'll have to remember that.

He found a pair of pants, and I found a GORGOUS dress for a very reasonable price, that is once again a bit of a fantasy dress, but it fits perfectly and is an amazing teal color. I know that sometimes I am shopping for evening soirees and upscale garden parties that we don't seem to have in our lives at this time, but maybe one day. Maybe I'm just going to have to start wearing fancy dresses to things, overdressing be damned.

Then we went for supper at a nice vegan place, probably ate way too much but it was delicious.

Then we went to "our" second hand book store, I found a few things and my Sweetie bought coffee beans.

We walked around for a while, just because it's pleasant to walk around in a "funky indie store" area in falling snow.

On the way out of town we went to Micheal's for a few art supplies, and I used both a 40% off one item to get blank cards for Christmas (I paint little watercolor panels for the front, glued on) and some inexpensive watercolor paper for the nights with D from pottery, where we will be experimenting with techniques and don't want to use expensive paper.

Then we came home to luxuriant kitty snuggles and doggy kisses.

I very much appreciate being able to spend a day with my Sweetie, who patiently drives me around to weird places to buy weird stuff, and we chat all day long about mostly just "stream of consciousness" babble, which is nice in and of itself.
