Aug. 18th, 2019 01:59 amI got an easier day today. I moved some more bits and pieces around, but had the luxury of cleaning some of these things first, and putting them away appropriately. This is partly why some of these things were left until the end, is that they needed cleaning.
My sweetie got some help from a new to us person, who is a friend of a good friend of ours. He is another one of these seasoned older guys who does a lot of construction, built his own house, and so on who might be pretty helpful with our project. He and my sweetie got all of the pink insulation out of the roof of our old house that we're tearing down, and he's taking the insulation to use in a garage. It's great that we got the help, and great that we don't have to throw away the insulation.
A good phone conversation with my Mom, she was cheerful and chatty today.
The wife of the guy helping my sweetie brought the grandkids to see the goats and ponies, and we carefully tested the theory that Ursula had been used for riding. I have been testing this on my own, by leaning on her a bit, and putting my arms at her sides like a little rider would, and she seemed okay with it. She did seem uncertain about moving forward once we had a child on her (basically an adult was holding onto the child the whole time, so that if Ursula reacted the adult could just lift the child off), so I don't think she's really "ridden", just had kids sit on her. She did well though.
Watching "The Beach Bum", which was a very artistically filmed movie, and kind of fun, but I have to say I didn't enjoy the constant objectification of women all the way through the movie. They were almost treated like a luxury accessory, to go along with having a yacht, or a pool. Also I'm kind of tired of the trope that "brilliant" people have to be horribly fucked up.
