Today I am grateful for:

More beautifully mild weather for this time of year.

Getting up at not too bad a time so we could go to the city together.

My Sweetie was up before I was, so he burned a pile of old hay that's been sitting in the horse pasture waiting for us to have enough snow and some free time to do so.

He also let everyone out into their pastures and brought Dandy over to visit with Wonder for a while.

Today was mainly about finding something nice for R for Christmas. I had some ideas.

We went to the fabric store for me to find a very pink "cotton candy" themed fabric to make a gift bag, and I found some on clearance.

I also found some AMAZING fabric that is for sure polyester, but it's the strangest material. It is black but kind of iridescent, and it manages to look like feathers. I cannot explain it, and I don't know if it would photograph well. I got two meters of it, and I hope that I can one day make some kind of cape or cool dress out of it.

When we left the fabric store to get into the car, my husband noticed that the rear tire was VERY LOW. We had picked up a drywall screw (found that out when the tire shop pulled it out).

We filled it with air at a gas station (not sure if that held for long) but were able to go STRAIGHT to a tire shop, where they pulled it out and patched it right away, and did it FREE OF CHARGE. Big call out to Kal-Tire for that one.

We talked to a young woman who worked there as we were waiting, and she had this great red hair. Turns out she is on a local synchronized swimming team, and they are very good, and she showed us pictures of her competition swimsuit (very cool) and told us that her team's practices were open to the public and so on.

I hadn't thought of that, that you could actually sit and watch something like that for free because they are after all practicing somewhere open to the public. That's kind of cool.

We wished her well in her swimming career, I hope they get to travel a bit to compete.

I was very grateful that getting a flat tire didn't ruin our plans for the day, or cause worse damage to the car. I was very grateful to get into a tire shop before it closed. If we had it happen any later I guess we could have just put the spare tire on, but having this tire repaired is better.

We then went to the Really Big Mall, as they had a huge rock and gem show in the big skating rink in the middle of it (they can just lay down an insulated floor).

First we ate in the food court, and I had some falafels and a tasty chickpea salad. Those falafels were top notch, which was a surprise for being from the food court. I got them the moment they got cooked, and they were super crunchy and hot. Mmmm.

The rock show was pretty good, most of what was in there was all from one local store, and this huge amount of material had to have been just stagnant inventory. I wonder where they've been keeping it, or if it was from a different store from that chain that closed out or something. I've been to their permanent location, and that store isn't that big.

I found a selenite bead bracelet for R, as she mentioned that it was her favorite crystal. It wasn't very expensive, so that's perfect.

I also found some labradorite cabochons with one little hole in them so I can add a bail, and they were reasonable, and some agate beads.

I could have spent a lot more, but I have a lot of beads at home. It was mostly fun to walk around and just look at everything.

Then we stopped into the candy store that is in the mall, and I got some cotton candy jelly beans for R's present (she mentioned that it is a favorite flavor. Yes, I was mining for ideas for Christmas), and another delicious peach gummy that is a best seller (I got to eat one as a sample, and it was very tasty).

These were some pretty pricey candies, but they will make a nice gift.

So R's gift is taken care of.

By the end of it, we were super burned out from looking at all the cool rocks and all the candy. Over stimulated.

It was raining a bit, but at least it was still above freezing so the roads weren't icy. It didn't look like it had rained at our place when we got home.
