Today I am grateful for:

Though I didn't really WANT to get up a bit early (the cats wouldn't leave me alone), it was good in terms of getting things done.

I talked with D from pottery about getting together this week to paint together again.

At first I was like "I want to paint with her, but that means driving in to town and kind of giving up my whole "day at home" and ..." then I thought, wait a minute, I went to her house last time to paint, it's not WRONG to ask her if she would come to our house this time, right? She DID say we could do that, take turns driving to each other's place so it wasn't all one person doing the driving.

So, that's what I did. I asked if we could paint at our house.

It's a little funny, you could tell from her response that she had assumed I would drive in to town (half an hour away) to paint at her house. She's like...I have to figure out what to do with my dog, then I have to go somewhere else that night too and it's the other direction....

So she agreed to come here, and I'm sort of glad that her own thoughts about how much effort it would be might create an awareness that OF COURSE it's a lot of effort for me too.

For some reason, people who live in town forget that I don't live in town, or that it's no big deal for me to make a one hour round trip drive to see them, and so on.

My husband had bought special dog food for Roxy at the vet clinic a few days ago, and we opened it today. I looked at the bag, and he bought food for dogs with digestive issues, but NOT the low fat food that the vet recommended. Sigh.

So, I have to go buy another very expensive bag of dog food tomorrow, and try to get that done before going to pottery (this is partly why I can't ever get there "early", is there are often things I have to do before everything closes).

I can likely mix a small amount of this other food into the low fat food to use it up, but still. It's frustrating to spend that money on not the right thing, and still have a "to do" task when you thought it was done.

We spent part of the day burning more old hay bales from the back of the barn. They are the remains of round bales from last winter, and they got moldy so I can't use them.

We just take it outside forkful by forkful and burn it away from the barn. There's lots of snow now, so a very low risk of it spreading.

Then we went to see River, a little earlier than usual.

River did very well with all our work today. Both of us were slow to warm up (I've been having sciatic nerve issues that generally loosen up once I'm moving, but get worse sometimes if I sit too long), but good once we were moving.

I got the stationary canter circle again today in both directions. He did a lot better with his yields under saddle today too.

Overall it was fun today. Nice that my Sweetie could come.

Then we came home and watched a movie, "The Protege" that was ALMOST very good, if they had paid attention to detail. Micheal Keaton was in it, and man can he act. His character was pretty low key, but he stole the whole movie.

I'll take the digestive issue dog food! It is very expensive!

It's nice that you and Sweetie enjoy movie nights together. Sending you a bag of virtual Bad Monkey ketchup-flavoured popcorn - it is only available in Canada, and it is GOOD!
