Dec. 15th, 2024 11:37 pmToday I am grateful for:
We called a truce, but I suppose really I'm just exhausted.
Yes, we talked through a lot last night, but I don't know if it changes anything. It doesn't seem to change anything after being angry.
I didn't get a lot of sleep, so today wasn't oodles of fun.
We did the usual chores, and then went to see River.
River felt like he was distracted, I think he was thinking about supper, since I often work with him close to when they are usually fed.
Our groundwork was decent, but for whatever reason, under saddle he seems to remember NOTHING about how to do simple side passes. Something he has done a LOT over the years, so we worked on that.
I am glad my husband came with me to see River.
It was a pretty evening, with a big moon shining on the snow.
We came home and he needed to bake for a work Christmas party. He made the molasses cookies again, this time with sugar, and he made buns.
I don't know what happened, but he bought this bread mix that was a complete recipe, and it came with two packages of yeast, you were supposed to use both if you make dough with the whole package, and one if you made half. He made half a recipe, used one of the yeast packages, and his dough didn't rise.
I didn't see what he did to know what went wrong, but I did my best to fix the situation. I took the second package of yeast and started it in a bowl of warm water (a very small amount, since he already had the necessary amount of water in the dough) and managed to mix it into his "not rising" dough.
Luckily that seemed to work okay, and he got some buns baked.
I think it's nice that he cares enough to bake actual real food for his office party.
