Dec. 19th, 2024 11:23 pmToday I am grateful for:
Waking up today without anyone "yelling" on me from Facebook. Yay!
What's "funny", is that person who had posted something controversial, then got all upset at the drama caused by her post, posted something controversial again that was likely to draw heated comments (though maybe not so much among the posters at each other), about issues with construction in her city.
STOP POSTING THINGS THAT WILL GET PEOPLE ALL STIRRED UP IF YOU DON'T LIKE DRAMA.
I ignored her post, plus I don't care. I don't live there.
I will try to only say things like "happy birthday" or "happy anniversary" to her from now on.
Thursdays are often days where I don't go anywhere unless I must, and I generally try to attend to things that keep up the appearance of hygiene.
I got several loads of laundry done, sorted through my sock drawer (very exciting, I know! I found a match to a single sock that I really love, so that was nice.) and even changed the sheets.
My Sweetie got home in good time, and I did the normal chores and such, and he had to repair the snow blower and then remove some snow in our yard.
While he was doing that, I brought more wood up to the house for the wood stove, and then I spent some time working with Wonder.
I used the halter to lead her around the big pasture since I didn't feel like chasing her ten times back to her "safe" zone by the gate. I did use this walk to reinforce her ground manners, which aren't fantastic.
She often walks ahead of me and cuts me off, and she does this at Liberty too, so with the halter on I can correct this better and not have her interpret my correction as pushing her away.
She also walks into me with her shoulder, and moves her head into me, and all kinds of things that are signs of not respecting my space. We worked on those things.
So, it was useful work.
Then I worked with her in the round pen at Liberty, and she did well with that. She's a little funny with her Right side, and doesn't like me working from that side much, so we did a few things on that, helping her to gain confidence that she is safe with me there.
Then we came inside, and by the time I made supper and did the dishes and my Sweetie got the fire started in the wood stove and watched some "Scooby Doo" together, that it was still only 7:30 pm, but my husband was going to go to BED, but he hadn't done anything on the house at all.
I asked him, and he said he did do some small electrical thing, but it's disappointing that after all the promises he made, one of them being that he would start using Thursday evenings as a block of time to work on the house, that the FIRST WEEK after he agreed to it, he failed to do it.
His excuse? It took a little longer to get the snow blower going than he thought it would take.
I was like "but it's still only 7:30. You could have come in after blowing snow, had a quick snack, and worked for an hour or two and there would have been time to get something done".
He was like "yeah, I guess" and rolled over and went to sleep.
So this is why I get angry. I wanted him to start seeing Thursday evenings as a block of time that was like an appointment, where it was just TIME to do something on that bedroom.
He manages to go to the climbing gym three times a week like clockwork and NOTHING stops him from doing that. He goes for about two hours and rarely misses it. On those nights he gets home at about 8:30 pm, and pretty much eats and goes to bed.
Why can't he spend ONE night a week during the weekdays, working on the house? It seems reasonable, Thursday is not a "gym" night, nor is it a riding night for me so I can be home to help him work.
Well, now where do we go?
