Dec. 21st, 2024 11:48 pmToday I am grateful for:
All of a sudden, Christmas feels very close. I try not to get hyped up about it, because in reality our Christmas is generally pretty low key these days. It's nice, but not a "big deal" in terms of food, or plans usually.
I got some good sleep finally, after some tossing and turning.
I got up and texted Trainwreck to see how she's doing after falling, and she says she's okay.
I got my Sweetie's help to trim both of the goat's feet today. It is a two person job for sure.
The trimming went well. I do my best to keep it as low drama as possible, and very gentle.
It was very near to zero Celsius today, so pretty warm, and I could do the trimming without wearing gloves.`
Then I worked with Dandy in the big pasture again, using a halter. I once again connected him to the plastic sled and we walked around the big pasture, once with it empty, and again with a load of hay (still not very heavy). He did very well with it, and wasn't worried about dragging something.
I did some work with Wonder, but not a great deal of progress as far as keeping her with me in the big pasture at Liberty.
It is good that I have a reason to get out and do some walking with them both.
My Sweetie brought in more firewood and got the wood stove going.
Then I was pointing out that he could work on the house? The day was still pretty young.
He replied that until I finished painting in the mud room, there was no point moving the ladder we had set up by the stairs (what a lame excuse, as if a ladder is SO HARD to move).
I'm sure he thought that would be his "out" for the day, since he probably thought I wouldn't finish the painting.
Nope. I said "oh, is THAT what's holding us up". I finished the painting, which wasn't much, and now there are no more excuses. He was able to move the ladder, and he did something while I was painting, not sure what, and now there is no excuse. He can work on the floor with no impediments.
Of course he stopped the moment I stopped. I wonder if he'll find another excuse tomorrow, or if he will just DO IT.
We wrapped up for the day and ate supper and watched "Muppet Christmas Carol".

Date: 2024-12-23 12:45 am (UTC)Hopefully, an extra gift to you will be the necessary hometime that your spouse can finish in a timely manner. With that will come the added stocking stuffer - "peace of mind".
The ceiling here did not get done in time. A guest said, oh, a paper plate for a medallion, I love it, to a whack of explanations, not from me.

Date: 2024-12-23 09:04 am (UTC)Not do odd chores that need doing, but actual nails in the floor and paint on the walls and drywall getting on the walls work.
If a person chooses to say "for three hours every Thursday my job is to work on this room until it is finished" it's better than nothing.
My husband can be guilty of "all or nothing" thinking when it comes to projects. He likes the immediate reward of doing something like clearing snow or going to the dump because they can be done in a relatively short time frame and you get to feel "done" something.
He doesn't want to work on something like the floor in the bedroom that might take MONTHS to finish if he's only working a few hours a week...except if he thought about it he would have finished it by now if he'd been doing that for the months of October and November, when he did more or less nothing on it.
We could theoretically be moving into that room for Christmas instead of just really beginning the work in there.
I have every confidence that your guests were more than happy with your soiree, and cared very little about the ceiling.
