Today I am grateful for:

Getting some decent sleep.

We didn't rush too much, but got chores and such done so we could go to the city.

Part of me wanted to reach out to Trainwreck to see how she's doing, or talk to her kids to see if they were trying to do anything with her for Christmas, but the other part of me just figured that she's a grown woman, and she should just talk to her kids herself, tell them that she feels self-conscious about having a bruise on her face and yet know that they would still love her enough to see her for Christmas.

It's not my job to negotiate things for her, or to make sure that she voices her needs.

We finished signing the Christmas cards and sealing them, and went to the post office first to mail them.

I suspect I might have missed a box number on one card, as I was supposed to confirm it, but that one does have a postal code and might be okay after all.

At least they got sent.

My husband wanted a pretty pricey item for Christmas, a "heavy duty" shop radio that also charges the batteries for his tools. When he does want something, it tends to be oddly specific and often pricey, but why not. So we went and bought him an uber-masculine shop radio that looks like a power tool.

Then we went to a mall where one of the last stores that sells DVDs and CDs exists. I wanted to find a few newer movies to watch, and we did. We don't subscribe to any streaming services.

Then we had supper in a place we go to fairly regularly, and I had a vegetarian donair that was tasty. My Sweetie inhaled his food in about three minutes flat, and I ate so that I could taste and enjoy my meal, so it was a little funny that he just sat there with an empty plate forever while I ate s l o w l y.

Then we went to his climbing gym, so he could climb. It's something you have to be consistent with to be good at it.

I got to meet a few people that are regulars there, that he is kind of "gym friends" with, so that's nice.

I'm glad that this gym doesn't stink. He used to go to a different climbing gym that smelled so bad that I couldn't stand to be in it at all. It literally smelled like hot gym bag smell, a combination of feet and other body odor that was just ingrained into every crevice of it.

This gym seems to have hygiene figured out, and better ventilation, and I'm fine with it.

After that we went to get groceries since I would normally have gone to pottery and then groceries on Monday.

We aren't eating a big Christmas meal, but we do usually make a few nice things like tabbouleh salad that has become "our" Christmas dish.

While part of me mourns the big Christmas feast, just about everything about a traditional Christmas feast is either meat based or full of sugar or white flour, so at some point you have to stop trying to come up with healthy versions of those things and just eat something else.

Then we came home and watched that Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer classic show with the misfit toys. I used to love that one as a kid. Now I just wonder why Rudolph and all the other deer walked everywhere when they could FLY.
