My story about today.
Dec. 27th, 2024 01:55 amFrom time to time I want to try this, a short story about something I did. I know my posts are already kind of like this, but I watched a cool TEDX talk about story telling and I want to try it.

Today I wanted to work on pottery.
We recently set up a wheel in our garage so that I could throw sometimes at home. Eventually I want to have a full studio with a kiln, so that I can be free of the drama at the studio in town.
The clay was in good shape, I had some in a bag that was still moist, so I wedged it and made nice balls to take out to the garage.
The first piece went well, if it survives trimming and firing etc, it is a nice vase shape.
The next ball of clay becomes a nice medium sized bowl, perfect for cereal or soup.
The next two balls of clay don't become anything, but it's nice to have the time to push the clay to its limits to see if I can do something interesting with it.
The last ball of clay becomes a nice bowl shape, a little bigger than the other one.
Clean up isn't too bad, I don't have running water out there, but I brought a pail of warm water with me, and it's enough to clean things.
Overall it was a nice experience, with the wood stove cracking away in the corner of the garage and Roxy snoozing on a mat where I can watch her.
I'm very grateful she's doing okay right now. We've had a rough stretch with her. She does seem to be walking okay, though at one point we did consider getting her surgery for both of her hind legs; it's her ACL tendons. They seem to have scarred up enough (what the vet said might happen if things went well) that she can walk okay. For some reason they don't refer to that as "healing", just "scarring".
Overall she seems comfortable and happy to be here, and it's nice to have her with us.
The stars are out tonight too, and our house looks nice as I walk back inside from the garage, with Roxy trotting along with me.
