Today I am grateful for:

To have my husband home on cold days like this. The ordinary things that need doing like outside chores just seem harder and are more tiring because of all the extra clothes you have to wear. It's nice to have some help, and then to have company when you're done.

I did get some good sleep last night, which always helps.

My Sweetie did fire up the snow blower and get the driveway cleared.

When I bring the goats inside the garage in cold weather like this, they have to stay in fairly small pens that don't give them a lot of room to walk around. Twice a day I block off part of the garage to let them walk around and stretch their legs, and put them back in after about half an hour.

Usually that works great. Today the goats were just idiots. I suspect that they went into heat from being in a somewhat warmer environment (the garage is kept at a few degrees above freezing), and they were full of raging hormones.

Sasha was being the aggressor, trying to mount Brownie relentlessly even though they are BOTH females. She was chasing her around the garage, knocking stuff over and Brownie knocked down the barriers I had to keep them in a "safe area", and kept trying to hide behind the tool boxes and other stuff.

So I got Sasha put back into their pen, a somewhat freestanding box made out of plywood with a divider in it so they have separate space. Brownie got to walk around outside in the garage, but Sasha was nuts, and just slamming into the walls of their pen, to the point where I thought she might break down the door, even though it is pretty sturdy.

I just lost my temper and yelled at her to "JUST FREAKING STOP", and weirdly enough it worked.

It was still nuts trying to get Brownie into her half of the pen, and keep Sasha on her side, and it took my husband's help to get it sorted out because they both kept running into one side of it, and huddling together. I keep them separated in the box so they don't hurt each other in a small space.

The whole thing left me very tired and stressed out, and I don't think they're getting their walk around time when I do chores later. It's supposed to warm right up tomorrow, and they can just go outside, so it's fine if they stay cooped up a little bit tonight.

I'm not going through that again tonight.

We both went to see River, even though it was about -21 C or so. It's not that bad if you're dressed for it.

River did well. They got fed early enough that he got to eat enough, so that was a good start. We only did ground work and Liberty, since I was going to have to wear bulky clothes.

He did very well on most of it today, and made a little progress with the "Spanish Walk far enough away that you aren't just kicking me".

We came home and my Sweetie started the wood stove and I made supper, and we watched an episode of "The Orville", more than happy just to be inside where it's warm, and not needing to move for a while.
