Today I am grateful for:

Sunshine.

Some other friends of ours were here helping with tearing down drywall, and I'm glad it was them. Their sense of humor picked my spirits up. We were ripping sheets of drywall off the walls and stacking them while my husband and the other guy with the backhoe were working out how to take more of the roof off.

By the end of the day, my sweetie and the backhoe guy had been able to tear a whole section of the trailer down completely. If our other friend had shown up with his dumping trailer, we could have sent at least two loads of piled materials to the dump today. While I'm upset that he drove over my flower bed, I really do appreciate how much it helps us to have him here with his equipment.

My hay guy had my winter's supply of hay ready for me, so he brought it today. I am always grateful for having him as a neighbour and as my hay guy, because his hay is always of decent quality, usually excellent, but sometimes weather gets in the way. He delivers the hay for a reasonable fee, and loads it into my barn for storage so that it doesn't get rained on. This saves me SO MUCH trouble. I used to have it outside, and just tarped, but it would get all snowed-in, and it would be hard to get to in the winter, and we'd lose a fair bit of it to moisture no matter how hard we tried. By storing it in the barn, it is easier to access, and I can store it as long as I need to, without it getting moldy from moisture. He doesn't always have enough hay to sell me some, but even then he's up front about that so that I have time to look around. I always tell him how much I appreciate his hay, and his willingness to deliver it to us. There are not many people around as honest and reliable as this guy.

It is a good feeling to have the winter's hay tucked away in the barn. Some years (like last year) there is so little hay around, and it's terribly stressful.

We knocked off work a little early today, but good progress has been made.

A little walk around the horse pasture.

Fresh carrots, beets, zucchini, and chard from the garden for supper.
