Jan. 31st, 2025 12:34 amToday I am grateful for:
Getting better sleep today. I remembered to disconnect the land line so I didn't have spam calls.
I did normal chores and such, so I could go to town and walk with D from pottery.
It wasn't too cold, but it was blowing and snowing a bit, but the roads weren't bad.
It was actually kind of nice to walk around in the bluster, since it wasn't that cold, and sometimes it's just nice to feel some real weather and know that you're able to deal with it.
It was also nice to talk with D about just this and that, and not death or getting old.
Her little dog looked very cute in a winter jacket.
We walked for about 45 minutes, which is great. I haven't been walking enough this winter.
She's also going on vacation next week, so it's good to see her before she goes.
Afterwards, we met up at Peavey Mart, to see if there was anything we needed on clearance, but we didn't end up buying anything.
It's weird, because they've barely put anything on sale, but the shelves are almost empty only a couple of days after they announced the closure. You can buy most of those things somewhere else, but it's like people are panicking or something.
I had hoped to find a good winter chore coat, but I didn't care for anything they had left, and...it wasn't really on sale either. So...?
I did get some tasty ice wine, and my usual port that I nurse for months, since I don't drink much. We had a thimble full of the ice wine each after supper, and it is very sweet and tasty.
My husband came home right after work, and he did stop in at a paint store and brought home a TON of paint chips for the kitchen, but I feel like they're wasted. He got all "off white" colors, when what I wanted was something to GO WITH the off-white cupboards. Even when I tried to clarify with him, he was like "yeah, you wanted an off white color!". No.
We were supposed to go look at paint colors at the store, instead of bringing all these paint chips home, that I now feel are wasted.
He said he did something else with the house, not sure what, and another day passes with the area above the sink not being done, wires hanging out of the wall, and I guess it's waiting on me to start painting or something?
Anyhow, we ate and watched "The International", which we have watched a few times, and I barely follow the convoluted plot, but it has a great shoot out in the Guggenheim art gallery, and I am amused by Clive Owen ALWAYS LOOKING VERY INTENSE. Like, crazy intense, the whole movie. He's sweaty, worked up, his eyes could bore through walls. INTENSE. That must have been difficult to do for the weeks/months of filming.
Aunt E's family put up an obituary of Aunt E, and it's mostly about being married and having kids, and not much about her as a person. I guess that happens at a service?
