Today I am grateful for:

Getting some sleep.

Getting normal animal care and chores done, and managing okay with the -24 C temperature.

The car started fine (was plugged in), so I figured I could go ahead with "normal Monday".

I went to pottery, and everyone had already gone. That's fine.

I trimmed all the separate pieces of the tea pot parts I made last week, and assembled it. I like how it looks in general. It's kind of a different shape from the others I've made.

I'm trying to get the separate pieces thinner and lighter, as some of my teapots just weigh too much to be comfortable to use.

I got done in good time, so I didn't feel too rushed cleaning up.

I went to Winner's, and just enjoyed walking around in the bright, big space. I've been feeling cooped up. I did find a Men's sweatshirt that I like for myself, on clearance.

I got groceries, and I noticed some things the prices have increased a lot again. I like a kind of olives, and the price has gone up from $5 a jar to over $7, and who knows why. I feel like that's just a ridiculous price to pay for a small jar of olives, so unless they go on sale I'm done buying those.

I am grateful to be able to buy groceries, to have the means and the physical ability to do so.

It's been nice chatting with check out people. You do it long enough and you really do get a rapport going. I'm sure they appreciate people who take the time to ask them how they're doing, and to make the interaction more meaningful for both of us.

I came home and my Sweetie had started the wood stove and helped put away the groceries.

He had eaten in town, so I cooked mostly for myself and we watched an episode of "The Orville".

I'm glad it sounds like you had a nice day. It also helps to hear about your car working because RC is about to bring up the trickle charge for my Prius and I'm hoping it will do the job. I know you live in much colder climate even though we did get tons of snow this year here.

I'm grocery shopping right now and noticing prices too.

It's wonderful how much you put toward your pets, especially given as you said the cost of things increasing. Our neighbors here I think feed the entire ecosystem. They said at one point it was costing them $900 a month for all the indoor and outdoor cats, multiple bird feeders, and food for the squirrels. So they had to cut back.

I don't think we will ever think the same of the US. Then I think back on manifest destiny and wonder how we got so complacent.
