Today I am grateful for:

I guess just continuing to try to have some kind of life when it's this cold outside for so long.

It hasn't been SUPER cold (the whole world grinds to a halt when it's colder than -35 C. Mostly when it's that cold everyone just stays home and focuses on keeping everything together). It has been consistently about -15 C or colder during the day and -20 C and colder at night for a couple of weeks now.

It's saying that we'll get significantly warmer weather by this Thursday, so I guess we have to just hang in there.

It was about -22 C outside during the day today, but it didn't feel TOO bad doing chores.

My Sweetie got up and hung the last cabinet in the mud room, which is good. It's not sanding the kitchen, or working on the jacket thingy, but it's more progress. It sounds like he did a bit of work in the basement getting some of the small, fussy bits of drywall done that have to be finished before we can get someone to come do the mudding and sanding down there.

He came with me to go to the barn today, which is nice. I am usually able to stay warm by moving around as I work with River, and he often gets pretty cold from sitting. The heater that R installed does help a lot, I think.

River did well today. He was comfortable with the umbrella on the ground, and seemed better able to read my cues today while I was carrying it. Last time he was pretty confused.

It's still taking a little too long to get him to be forward and holding a good circle shape on his own, it takes building up to it before he commits to being accountable for his pace and frame.

I did stand for a count of thirty, but today he seemed to want to walk off as soon as I sat down again, which isn't what I want. I want him to stay in a halt until I ask him to move off, so I worked on that a bit.

Overall he did well.

We came home and ate, and my husband had a hot bath, and he went to bed really early tonight at 8:30 pm.

He does have tomorrow off, as it's Family Day.

Oh, you have "Family Day" too - I thought it was an Ontario thing.

A friend and her spouse went away to Quebec for the Family Day weekend, but the bitter cold and snowstorms made the trip a bit treacherous.

I was happy with pizza and some chocolate. Valentine's Day might be fun if I create "vinegar valentines" ahead of time and try to put them up on Etsy.
