Feb. 19th, 2025 12:33 amToday I am grateful for:
Having a comfortable home with my Sweetie and our critters.
The days are feeling a bit like just getting through them, with the weather being so cold. I'm not spending a lot of time outside other than working with River and doing chores.
I did talk with Trainwreck today, and it was fine. She talks about one of her sons a lot, as his life is really a mess, but what does she expect? I try not to spend a lot of time thinking about his life, because I don't have much bandwidth left for people with chaotic lives that don't go looking for solutions. I do suspect that most of his five kids will be completely unable to function as adults, and that's a shame.
Again, not a damn thing I can do about it.
Now I am going to try to enforce a boundary of a few days to a week of NOT talking with Trainwreck. I gave her my full, relaxed attention today for about half an hour, that's fine.
I did chores and then went to see River. It was around -23 C or so, right at the boundary of when it might just be too cold to be outside for that long. Well, it really wasn't bad. The arena means I'm out of the wind, and I kept moving. If I got too cold I could warm up in the barn, which is heated to about 10 C.
River did well. I think he actually appreciates the movement, and I try not to overdo it. I think on some level, it's like the benefits of mobility exercise for people, just keeping things loosened up is good for everyone.
He did well with the umbrella again today, and is doing better at interpreting my cues while I'm holding it.
I stood for a count of thirty two separate times, just to make sure he was going to stand and be relaxed, and not try to walk away the moment I sat down. He stayed stationary today.
Good work overall.
It is still going to be cold tomorrow according to the forecast, but not as cold, so it will probably feel amazing to be somewhere in the -teens C.
I came home and put Dandy back with Ursula, and by then the car thermometer was registering -27 C.
It's the WIND that just cuts!
Anyhow, I was VERY happy that my Sweetie did the grocery shopping for us this week, and had supper ready when I got home.
We had time to finish watching "Furiosa", and I was still pretty "meh" about it. I didn't feel much for any of the characters, didn't care much about all the CGI chase scenes and explosions, and none of it felt very engaging. The whole movie felt very re-hashed, unoriginal, and in the end felt like it just lacked heart.
