Feb. 23rd, 2025 11:32 pmToday I am grateful for:
A slow start to the day, and I got some good sleep.
My Sweetie worked on sanding the kitchen, using an attachment that connected the sanding tool with the shop vac, which really cut down on the dust on the floor. I really wish he'd had that thing for the last time we sanded. Or the last many times we sanded over the years.
It's still not ready to paint. He says he has to do another layer of mud, and more sanding. So, it's about two months now of the kitchen being "in progress", and nothing else happening in the house at all. That's what happens when you can only manage to put an hour in per week.
I went outside while he sanded, so that Roxy didn't have to be in the house while he was running the vacuum.
I made a trail through the deep snow in the pasture behind the goat/pony pen so they could go into the larger area for some exercise.
I got another sled full of pony poop taken to the compost pile.
I talked to Sister E for a while, and it sounds like she had a good time at another paint night, and she's planning to keep going to them.
Then we went to see River. We saw R before she went inside for supper. She had a more comprehensive examination done on a horse she adopted last summer. The original diagnosis was Wobbler's; damage to the nerves that can cause issues with balance that might get worse over time.
According to the newer diagnosis, the Wobbler's is inconclusive, but they think he might have lameness in one of his hocks.
So, I guess she's getting more testing on the hock, and hoping to find a program of treatment to prevent it from getting worse, and hopefully improving it.
River did well overall, but is still really drifting in our Liberty circle in one direction, and he almost zones out and doesn't draw in that direction. Only after kind of getting after him a bit did he "wake up" and realize that life would be more pleasant if he paid attention.
He did well with all the work with the umbrella.
I did stand again for a count of thirty. The mounted side pass is still pretty mediocre, in spite of all of our work this winter.
We came home and I put Dandy back with Ursula and the goats.
It's so nice that it isn't very cold right now. I didn't have to wear my heavy chore coat today.
Then we came in, made/ate supper and watched something I thought was a movie, but was actually a random episode of a series (Dark Matter). I didn't see that until later. It's weird that the episode almost stood on it's own, in spite of being episode nine.
