Mar. 19th, 2025 12:35 amToday I am grateful for:
Getting decent sleep.
Feeling like I can at least breathe now. Mom turned some kind of corner mentally and was willing to take her medication orally, meaning that she could go off the IV fluids.
That means that she can go back to the PCH for the rest of her recovery. They sent her back this morning, some of my family went with her, and she was back eating lunch in the common room this afternoon.
There's still a long road before she's healed up, no one's worried about her trying to walk (she really didn't before, which is why she fell in the first place).
I'm just glad that her pain is under control again, and maybe one of the few blessings of Dementia is that she doesn't remember anything.
I did talk with Trainwreck, who is all busted up from blacking out and falling again. She sent me a picture of her face, and about half of it is a solid dark bruise. She has very low blood oxygen because she has one collapsed lung and not much capacity in the other lung, she also isn't eating enough, she gets dehydrated, and so on. She's afraid to walk now.
So, I tried to just get on with things anyhow.
I read emails related to the pottery communications committee, and responded to one person's email. I'm wondering what else I can do to make my own assignment more complete, since every time something isn't comprehensive it will mean another week and another meeting.
I did some house things, putting away dishes, sweeping, started quinoa for supper.
I did chores and then went to see River.
River was a bit sleepy, but otherwise fairly responsive. We worked on the stationary trot circles, staying at my shoulder, yields, and so on. He was relaxed.
I did ride, and today he stood nicely while I stood, no walking off. I did some sensory work moving my vest around, swinging it above my head and so on, as I might do something like that in a freestyle.
We worked in his collected trot using just the neck rope. I don't know if I'm getting "collection", but he is bringing his head down nicely, and you can tell he's using his back when he does that. He seems to enjoy it.
Then I came home, returned Dandy to his own pen, and my Sweetie made supper. We spent some time just talking and sitting together before he went to bed.

Date: 2025-03-20 05:50 am (UTC)From what I understand, that one day before they got it sorted out was pure hell on everyone. Mom, the nursing staff, and my family.
I can't imagine how bad things used to be, before we had pain medication and other stuff for people with Dementia to help them stay calm.
