Mar. 25th, 2025 11:47 pmToday I am grateful for:
Beautiful weather. Things are melting nicely, bits of grass showing here and there.
I tried to have a phone conversation with Mom, but she wasn't really awake/aware enough to have one. She's having good days and bad days I guess, with the medication for her recovery.
I tried talking with Sister E, but she was busy.
I talked with Trainwreck, and that was reasonable. She was sober, which is good, and she talked about getting a family doctor, which is a good step. It was overall fairly positive.
Then my Sweetie got home, and we did chores before I went to the barn.
We talked a bit more about costs/estimates for getting a pottery building built, vs. doing most of it ourselves. I know he wants to save money, I know we COULD build it, but it has also taken us three months of working on the kitchen just to patch cracks, and we're not done yet.
We have to be realistic.
Sister S mentioned on our family page that she finally got a surgery date for her back. She's got a lot riding on this going well.
Then I went to the barn. River was SO SLEEPY today, and again his breathing wasn't great (yes, I've had vets look at him several times, and there's not a lot of options for helping him. It's mostly seasonal, worse in the warm weather, and worse if it's smokey or dusty).
He did try for me, and I was respectful of his breathing and gave him lots of breaks. We practiced some patterns, yields, and today I was able to kneel on his back while holding the umbrella. He wanted to walk away, but instead of sitting back down I stayed with him, and kept asking him to halt, and when he did I think he finally understood what I was asking. He seemed fine with me moving it around above him.
Then I came home and my Sweetie had done more sanding in the kitchen, and taped around the frames so that I can start painting. Yay!
Then we ate, and watched an episode of "Fringe".
