Apr. 18th, 2025 01:11 amToday I am grateful for:
Getting some sleep, after lots of tossing and turning. Sometimes I get restless legs and I know I'm in for it.
An overall very nice, quiet day.
I talked with Sister S, for the first time since her back surgery. She's doing okay, she says she can walk a bit with her walker (to protect her back until it heals) and use her arms to pick things up without too much pain. She's staying awake more now. She still has a long road of healing and physio.
My Sweetie is now visiting his family in Manitoba. We talked in the afternoon, he didn't sleep much after his arrival. He and his parents went to an art gallery, and enjoyed it very much.
After chores, I went to the nearby town to get fuel, and then walked in the park there. It's the one that used to be a farm, and the little house and some buildings are still there. It's a pretty nice park for such a small community, and lots of people use it in the summer.
Roxy seems to be doing well with longer walks again, and I'm very grateful for that. I know that I walked less when her legs were still weak (she partially tore one cruciate ligament in a hind leg, then as that one seemed better she partially tore the other. It took a year or so before she was walking fairly well again).
It is not anywhere near as enjoyable to go walk alone, and I felt badly leaving her at home. Something about walking with a dog is just so much better.
I'm very glad for her sake that she's doing okay with walking. She very much enjoys it, and snuffling around.
Then I came home and let Ursula and the goats into their larger pasture, and spent some time grooming Ursula. She still has an enormous amount of her winter hair left, as does Dandy.
Then I let Wonder (after untangling her mane) and Dandy into the larger pasture with their grazing masks on (so that I could keep their attention, there's not much new grass yet) and did some draw work at Liberty. Just getting them to walk beside me mostly.
Wonder was very connected with me today. She stayed with me very comfortably, and I gave her lots of snuggles. For all that she is a strange and excitable horse, she loves being snuggled. Literally I don't think I've ever met another horse as genuinely affectionate as Wonder.
Then I put her back in the smaller corral so I could get Dandy's focus, since he was just off on his own, and it's hard to get him to stay with me with Wonder there.
Once I got his attention he stayed with me fairly well, and we walked around the pasture together.
So LOTS of being outside and walking today.
Then I came in and ate, had a bit of a nap, talked with my Sweetie some more, and maybe I'll watch a movie.
