Today I am grateful for:

Beautiful weather again, though still no rain.

Getting good sleep.

I talked to Sister S, to see how she's doing (a bit better?) and how Mom is doing. Since the surgery, Mom has developed pneumonia, and they are treating that. Apparently the incision from her surgery is much better and is mostly healed. So there's that. She will still have to be on the IV antibiotics for her lungs.

Again, talking with Sister S is pretty much all doom and gloom. I'm sad for her, because I feel like this is where she's at in her own mind a lot these days. She's the one who advocates for Mom, and who has been visiting her a lot.

I did chores and headed to the barn.

River's breathing wasn't great, but he put in a good effort. We worked on the Freestyle a bit, then went outside to work on elements of the dressage pattern. It felt like he was listening well, and we did better on straightness on the diagonals across the arena.

I thought I had a different pad for the saddle (I need it to do a rising trot in dressage), couldn't find it in my tote at the barn, but found it later at home. Whew.

Then I stayed and worked with Ferrari. It's funny that he's a bit anxious every time I work with him, for a few minutes, then he seems to realize that I'm okay, and he's very calm and relaxed after that. I've worked him enough that you'd think he's know who I am now.

R asked me to lunge him at the canter, as he needs more work on that. I don't know if he's just not that GOOD at cantering, or not strong enough yet...he doesn't seem very capable of cantering in a balanced way on a circle. He really falls in on his shoulder. I thought he was going to fall over at one point.

I would hate to ride that canter.

It's funny, I don't think of River as being athletic, but he can canter nicely on a fairly small circle. Maybe I need to appreciate that more.

I came home and my Sweetie drove in at about the same time. I did let Wonder and Dandy out into the bigger pasture with their masks on, for a while.

My husband worked on trying to get the lights on the utility trailer to work, while I pulled more weeds in the garden.

Then we came in, too late for my Sweetie to watch anything.

He's getting up pretty early tomorrow to pick up a used rough mower for use in the horse pasture, since our animals can't eat all the grass. You can't have tall standing dry grass all around your yard.

Then he's supposed to go help our friends do the last big push to empty their Mom's house. He's done a lot of work with them on that, and the other house our friend's parents owned. Our friends have spent the last five years trying to get rid of the husband's parent's crap.

I have a lot of stuff, but you could probably get rid of everything in a month or two, even with trying to sell some of it because it's worth more than just dropping it off at a thrift store.

I'm supposed to show up if they still are doing something later in the day, but what would I be doing? We'll see.
