May. 29th, 2025 11:19 pmToday I am grateful for:
More solid sleep.
Not jumping into my day, but still getting lots done.
I stood up for myself, when my husband announced that he had spoken with our mechanic, who now has the little button I wanted to replace in my car. The car we picked up YESTERDAY, because the mechanic said he wouldn't be able to get that button this week.
So, my husband and the mechanic had worked it out between them that the mechanic would just SUMMON me at some point today, note that it's not even a proper appointment, but that I would have to be alert for a summons all afternoon, but also might not even get that summons if the mechanic was busy and couldn't take the car after all.
I told my husband that they did this without consulting me, so I was under no obligation to be on high alert all day, anchored to the house, awaiting my summons. I would do whatever the F*ck I wanted to do today, and I'll take the car in maybe tomorrow, maybe not. That button can now wait until I need to do something else with the car, or when I have time to take it to the mechanic. OR, how revolutionary, I will call and make an appointment, not wait around all day for the mechanic's whim.
I had a good conversation with Trainwreck. As I've said before, she's much better to talk with when she's sober. She was making an actual effort to not talk over me today, gave me space to talk, and seemed interested in my life. I much prefer this version of her.
Then I did chores, and it was SO HOT outside, that once again, there was no way I could work in the garden.
So, I decided to go to town and get groceries, even though this will throw off my rhythm of shopping on Mondays. With me being away last week, my Sweetie was only buying enough to get by, so we're low on some staples.
So, I went to Winner's for enjoyment.
Then I went to Bulk Barn to get healthier trail mix for my Sweetie to eat at work, and unsalted peanuts. He's been eating salted peanuts at work, but apparently he's eating a LOT of them, and that's not good. We're going to also make him some kind of hearty cold salad with beans and such to eat.
He's working ten hour days for this project, where he was working a normal day. So now he hasn't got meals figured out.
Then I went to Canadian Tire for plants, but they were out of the inexpensive six packs that I buy. I use them to fill several big half barrel planters we have, and I'm not going to use expensive plants for that.
So I went to Superstore, and they DID have LOTS and LOTS of the less expensive six packs, so I bought hopefully enough to do my planters.
Then I got groceries.
It was a surprisingly exhausting day, that's a lot of running around. I am very grateful to be able to physically do that kind of day, that we have the means, and a vehicle.
He was home to help me bring everything in and put it away.
Then we went out and did just a bit more work in the garden, but a storm came along so we went inside.
We ate, and watched an episode of "Fringe".
More solid sleep.
