Sep. 5th, 2019 12:32 amMore heat. Not TOO hot, but nice and warm. Such a relief after the bizarre arctic cold of last week.
The guys are actually DIGGING THE BASEMENT NOW!! This is amazing, because once the basement is done, we move the house onto the foundation, and we can begin the process of actually settling in. I haven't been able to really unpack, because we will have to move the house onto the foundation, so even a lot of the stuff we have in here already might have to be boxed up and set on the floor for safety. Once the house is on the foundation, we can have long showers again, and do laundry without worrying about filling up the temp septic tank. I can repair the cracks in the walls from the move, and repaint, and hang pictures and such again! I can one day settle my craft room, and paint again!
The digging is going well, and they aren't hitting too many big rocks. The clay is being hauled away by our friend, who will need it to fill in the hole left behind from tearing down HIS old house's basement.
The one guy, to all of our confusion, brought his dog again, and it was literally just doing laps around his backhoe, back and forth around the tracks and under the bucket as he dug. I grabbed the dog and put it in our outdoor kennel for safety, and he at least didn't object. Ridiculous.
A good riding lesson on River. He was hot and tired again today, so we worked on lowest level dressage patterns that didn't have much cantering, but made them harder by doing them in collection. They were still a good mental exercise for him, even if they were less demanding physically.
The nearly five year old son of the barn owner is very into nature stuff right now, and I brought him a bird nest awhile ago, and today I brought him an abandoned bumble bee hive and part of a wasp's nest. He was thrilled.
My sweetie smoothed out the pile of dirt in the horse pasture created by laying in the concrete slabs.
I managed to get a load of burnables to the dump before it closed.
