Today I am grateful for:

Getting decent sleep. Warlike internal struggle seems to be subsiding.

I talked with Sister S for a while, and it really doesn't sound like she's doing much better with being able to walk, though it does sound like she's at least accepting that getting the kind of walker that allows her to sit down might help her feel more confident going outside.

Nothing more about getting physiotherapy, and I have no idea why she wouldn't choose to do this. Why wouldn't you do everything in your power to stay mobile? EVERYTHING!

At least it sounds like she's in less pain since the surgery.

She and her husband like to go to a particular lake this time of year, on the long weekend, and they let other family know that they will be there for the day. A few did choose to show up, and they all had a nice visit.

Sister S says Trainwreck is looking well.

Then I went to see River. My Sweetie showed up at the barn with a different mask to try, and a spray meant for eye irritation relief.

River refused to wear the mask we had for him, so he hasn't had one on for a day or two. R put some fly repellent cream on his face, which hopefully helped. The flies are pretty bad right now at her place.

His eye looked a lot better today. Still a bit puffy, but it's come down a lot. I'm very glad for that.

We did work indoors, since it's been raining enough that the outdoor is very wet. We did mostly yields and this other type of Liberty circle that R wanted us to work on. He did well, and didn't seem sore today.

I didn't ride, just focused on ground work, even though he doesn't seem sore. I really want this to be solid before I do more work on his back.

Overall he seemed pretty comfortable.

So, we tried the new mask on him, and even if he does get it off, this one has bright orange fabric on parts of it so that we can hopefully find it more easily in the pasture. He didn't immediately try to get it off, so that's hopeful.

We came home and I let everyone out into their pastures, my Sweetie started supper, and I went out to the garden to pick more raspberries. I got another large (half gallon?) colander of really beautiful fruit. It's just perfect right now.

Then I came in and ate, we chatted for a while, then he went to bed and I went outside for a while to bring everyone in and work with Dandy.

I saw two foxes playing in the neighbor's yard (their yard is right next to our property). They are living under an old shed in that yard, and the neighbor wants to trap them (he SAYS live trap, to move them somewhere), because he's worried about their little dog.

They do not need to worry about that dog. It's never outside without them, and a fox isn't going to rush out of the bushes to snatch a dog out from under their noses.

In reality, I suspect this neighbor is just a bit of a control freak, and he's expressed so much concern about various animals in the short time that we've known him that you would wonder why he wants to live in the country at all.

I hope those foxes choose to live somewhere else, or he recognizes that they mean no harm.

I personally like foxes. They eat a lot of mice, and they don't generally bother humans or any of the critters, and they're fun to watch.
