Monday, August 25
Aug. 25th, 2025 11:26 pmToday I am grateful for:
Good sleep.
The heat outside made it at least possible for me not to feel guilty about not doing any work outside.
The neighbor texted me so that I could give her name and number to the woman who was looking for a cleaner. I hope it works out for them.
Monday is my day to go to town and grocery shop, so I did.
I chose to dress nicely today, and put a little makeup on. I wasn't going to pottery or doing anything that would contraindicate the ability to dress nicely, so I did.
I first enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the man-made lake in town. I really felt the need to do NOTHING for a while, so I sat in a gazebo and just watched a little gopher do it's thing, then a crow. It was very pleasant to just sit, and not scroll on my phone, try to plan a project, or do something meant to be productive or entertaining. Just sit.
I did talk with Sister E as I walked, though mostly it was just her, narrating her stream of consciousness as she generally does.
I came across a woman and her young daughter. The woman had a dog on a leash, and the girl had her kitten, and was just holding it. No harness. I wondered at the wisdom of that, but not much point in saying anything.
Then I went to Winner's, and enjoyed browsing in the air-conditioning. I waffled about a pair of jeans, because I likely have lots of jeans. I did settle on a nice black T-shirt that was a little heavier material and nicer structure than most.
Then I got groceries, and FINALLY, the store had Canadian apples, though it was a scruffy bin of "orchard run" apples that looked like they were first used as bowling balls. I dug through them to find a few that weren't as dinged up as the rest.
It's still pathetic that they don't have more Canadian options than this sorry offering.
I am grateful to be able to buy groceries, and grateful to have a nice day like this once in a while, where I can take my time to enjoy walking and being outside. I so rarely feel like I can do that, though in reality I should be doing it more often.
I came home and my Sweetie had let everyone out into their pastures, and done a bit of mowing. He mowed a walking path through the grass in the pasture, which I am a bit unsure if it was most beneficial, but I know he meant well.
He helped me to shore up a fence post that Wonder has been rubbing against enough that another rail was loose and the post almost pushed out of the ground. He put in a metal post meant for page wire, but it will do fine.
I have no idea why Wonder is so itchy. The flies aren't that bad, she's been dewormed, but she rubs herself on the fence a LOT. I'm thinking it might be the tall weeds in her corral.
So, that might be another project, is cutting those down and removing them.
We did walk around the pasture using the path, with Roxy.
Then we came in and ate.

Date: 2025-08-27 07:31 am (UTC)The period of night after my husband goes to bed is when I tend to be more creative, and that's when I usually paint or do a craft, or watch a movie.
I do chores in the wee hours, and often it is very nice outside this time of year. I often spend some time just sitting with Wonder and looking up at the night sky, listening to the night sounds, and of Wonder chewing her hay. Again, I'm not going to mention over and over again that I sat outside and looked at the sky.
Normally on Monday I just wear a clean t shirt and sweat pants because I would be going to pottery, so there is no point in wearing nice clothes. That normally leaves our trips to the city being just about the only time I can wear nice things, and EVEN THEN, I know that we'll end up walking a lot, so I have to wear shoes and clothing that I can walk in, and in the winter that means mostly jeans and a sweater under a heavy coat.
So, summer is ephemeral with a handful of days where I can dress nicely to go out in.
I'm glad you got to go for a nice walk.

Date: 2025-08-27 07:18 am (UTC)I do have a lot of black T shirts, some long sleeved shirts, but they are all a little different in terms of length or weight or neckline.
