Sep. 13th, 2025 02:34 amToday I am grateful for:
Good sleep. Lots of detailed dreams that even made reasonable sense when I awoke. Weird.
I didn't do much of ANYTHING useful today, which is also weird.
I guess I did clean and snap all the beans I had in the fridge, and put them into freezer bags.
My Sweetie has Fridays off, and has for a while. It's the trade-off for working longer days the rest of the week. However, it rarely ends up being a day for us to be together.
He tends to go to the city and buy stuff for projects, runs around doing other things like appointments, or getting his hair cut, and he tries to go to the climbing gym.
He did buy flowers for my general birthday week, which is nice. They sort of don't look like an arrangement, they look more like the florist gave him a whack ton of flowers at the end of the day, since there is no sense of height or artistry, which is weird, because this florist usually does make proper arrangements usually for my husband, when he gets them for occasions. They're pretty, but no artistry.
So today he got up early, I didn't see him all day, he came home more or less to give me the flowers, and took off again for the climbing gym.
I was also not happy that he didn't get back from the gym until 9:30 pm, which made me feel like our home just holds no appeal for him these days, whether or not that is actually true. It's how I felt.
I went to see River at our usual time, and River was very responsive to cues today, and while he trotted out nicely, he wasn't all "racey" and hard to turn like he was the other day. The other day I probably couldn't have done anything with him with just the neck rope as he was just being very resistant to cues, but today he was back to more his usual self, and I had no issues using just the neck rope.
I sure wonder sometimes, what goes on to make horses one thing one day, and something very different the next.
I stayed to work with an arabian mare called Amber, and did ground work with her during the woman with health challenges's lesson.
R and I talked about another person we both know, who is a BIG girl. I mean B.I.G. She bought a little two year old last year, and this year...wants to ride it. A fine-boned little three year old horse that might not weigh twice what this woman weighs. Apparently it lay down when she tried to mount it. Poor thing.
This woman probably should sell this little horse to someone of an appropriate size and go look for a nice draft or draft cross to ride.
I came home, and when my Sweetie finally came home, we chatted for a while before he went to bed.

Date: 2025-09-13 06:52 pm (UTC)Florists are coming up with some creative and unstructured arrangements these days. They are a lot nicer than supermarket posies.

Date: 2025-09-13 07:54 pm (UTC)Lots and lots of flowers, just no height or greenery or anything.
It's puzzling. Maybe they were about to close for the day?
