Today I am grateful for:

Decent sleep.

My Sweetie got up earlier than I, and I THOUGHT we were having a hired guy come help him with building the shed.

No. The hired guy bowed out for today, saying "he had an appointment he forgot about". Really dude?

Instead, several of our friends, the ones we work back and forth with on their projects, came to help. In a way, this is fitting to me. I was wondering why we were paying someone to build a simple shed, when all my husband has been doing this summer (and other years) is help other people with their building projects.

I guess the paid guy is still coming tomorrow, as are some of the same friends.

I did help as well when I got up. They had leveled the bottom of the building and put in the floor on the side with an enclosed shed, and after I started helping we got the frames for the walls built and standing.

There's still lots to do, like the roof, but it's a great start.

The burn pit at the dump is closed, so there was no point in my taking a load of old wooden shelving from the pottery studio to the dump like I had planned.

It is irritating to have all the stuff we took out of the pottery shed just scattered on the grass in front of it, waiting to go away.

It was nice to see our friends today, and I'm glad they came.

After, I decided to do some mowing, as there were some areas that were still looking pretty long. I did that for about an hour.

We watered the garden, and used the last of the stored rain water. It is SO DRY!!!

It's looking like we have some spaghetti squash, and maybe a few small pumpkins on the vines right now. I will let them grow as long as we can. We're a few weeks from a hard frost, maybe. We've already had a light one, just enough to singe the edges of some leaves.

I let everyone out for a while before mowing, and after mowing I worked with Dandy.

We did long lining again, and my Sweetie helped a bit by leading him at first to keep him facing forwards. The Liberty training does focus on having him face up to me, and to stay beside me, so it's a bit different to ask him to walk out ahead of me.

He did really well today, he understood the pressure of the lines better and was better able to just maintain a calm, forward walk instead of halting then jumping ahead like last time.

Then we came in, ate, and watched the remake of "Roadhouse", which was pretty good, but you can't see it as a remake of the original. It's just a movie with the same general notion of some guy working as a bouncer in a bar. That's literally about the only thing that was the same. It otherwise felt a lot more like Jack Reacher, in the sense that he's a tough guy who has no ties and travels light, just uses cash, doesn't have a phone, and does the justice thing, and in this movie he "moved on" at the end, setting it up for a sequel if they want one.

Lots of shed progress. When does the roof go up? Will there be running water and heating?

Old interior doors, a broken-down barrister's bookcase and trampoline parts were removed from the palais shed/garage this past month so far. It might be a good idea to hose down the concrete floor, after I've blown out the accumulation of dead leaves and debris.
