Today I am grateful for:

Decent sleep.

I still had repercussions from food issues last night, but only for part of the day, whew!

Without being militant, we got our day rolling and put in some work outside.

My Sweetie did some vacuuming/scrubbing of the interior walls of the pottery shed, now that it's stripped to the frame and outer walls.

He bought sealant paint so that we could paint the whole interior wood frame to get rid of the mouse smell.

So that's what I worked on today. I got a fair amount done, about half way.

He did some more work on the garden shed.

We made a point of letting everyone out into their pastures earlier in the day, so that they wouldn't miss out. This time of year it is dark early, and we do miss letting them out sometimes if we get home after dark. There is a point when we don't do it as often, and they don't miss it once there's a foot of snow.

I briefly spoke with Sister E, and touched back on her take of what is happening with Trainwreck's ex. Sister E says that though Trainwreck was being a big unspecific, it does sound like this is more of a "behind closed doors" arrangement with the doctor, not official MAID (I bet there was just no time to go through that process, as it is supposed to take at least 90 days) which means Trainwreck should be careful about how she talks about it.

So, hopefully even if she is offended by my bluntness, she realized the importance of discretion in this matter.

Sister E said that her husband tried to pass a farm implement and hit something on the side of it as he was trying to pass it. It was pretty much dark and raining, and her husband really isn't supposed to be driving at night any more since he had cataract surgery.

Well, it damaged the car to the point where they probably won't try to fix it, but from what she says he's okay. Very shaken, but okay.

I feel for him, because he's having vision issues from diabetes, and is in his '70's, but would suffer emotionally if he wasn't able to drive after this.

We ate and early supper and headed to town (not quite the city, a town outside of the city, the same town I got my dental work done) to see a live musical performance.

We had a little time to kill, and walked around a nice neighborhood that felt almost surreal, because the houses, though in good shape and well-tended, looked EXACTLY like they probably did in the late 70's early '80's. It looked like no one updated the exteriors at all. The whole street we were on.

They could film a movie there, if they needed an '80's vibe.

So, then we went to the nice theater, one we haven't been to before, and a lot of the people attending were pretty elderly, lots of white hair. I wonder how many of them lived right in the houses we were looking at, and this is THEIR theater, so to speak.

I thought that was interesting. The idea that these people have likely lived right there, all raised families and possibly many of them have known each other forever, and they all have seasons tickets to all the performances just down the street from their homes.

The band is "Apollo Suns", and THAT was trippy too, in that they had an almost 70's vibe. The band members were probably around 40-50 years old, and it was GREAT music, but it's so hard to explain their vibe.

Jazzy, kind of a jam band, but the drummer looked like Brian Wilson if he were maybe forty, and the keyboardist was just a tall, gangly person wearing a dress and running shoes and a cowboy hat, and there was a skinny, frenetically energetic trombone player. In short, they were WEIRD, but in a good way.

They really got grooving, and many of the older people seemed to enjoy them, and others just sat there like they were carved in stone.

WEll, I had fun. We thought the band members were nuts, and laughed all the way through, and the music was really different.

It felt like a good way to finally celebrate my birthday, and I even made a point of making sure I had time to put some effort into my appearance and putting on something nice (I had actually tried on outfits last night to find something I wanted to wear).

Was it a combination birthday and anniversary date, or is there another evening out to look forward to?
