Today I am grateful for:

That my Sweetie was on top of our timeline today, and made sure I got up in a timely fashion.

I had a nice dress all picked out again for today; the Sunday rider from the barn got married yesterday, and today was their backyard gathering.

After chores and animal care and getting cleaned up, we headed to the gathering.

My Sweetie needed us to take the truck since he planned to...also pick up lumber. Yup. You heard it.

I had not prepared for that, and I would have cleaned out the truck a bit had I known. So, I insisted that he take a few minutes to wipe down the interior as best we could, since it was very dusty and we were all in nice clothes.

Funny how that sort of thing escapes him.

We arrived at the location of the gathering, which was the friend's parent's home. It was a pretty upscale house, pretty new, and in a fancy subdivision. Cha-Ching!

We briefly talked with R and her daughter L from the barn, as they were leaving. We'd hoped to be there at the same time so that we had someone to sit with, but alas.

So, other than the bride and groom we knew no one. It was mostly their family, so we sat by ourselves.

We did have some nice food, and there was a big candy "bar" so my husband could take a bag of candy home with him.

We did get to talk to our friends, and to congratulate them, so that was the whole point, and was nice to be invited to join them.

We took home one of the bouquets from the tables, which were lovely garden flowers.

When we were leaving in the truck, I managed to get stung by a wasp on my back. I guess it had hitched a ride on my clothes, and stung when I sat down in my seat. It was quite a surprise, and of course hurts quite a lot.

Then we DID go to Home Depot for lumber. I went in, and though a tad overdressed, I got two little house plants.

I also scored a multi-task win, as I noticed a franchise of the pet food chain that carries the frozen cat food we use, and I called them from Home Depot to see if they had a bulk box of it in stock, and they did.

So we were able to pick up cat food, which saved us from an extra trip this week, since these locations are kind of inconvenient for us.

Then we went from there to the riding barn, where I did a quick change.

Earl the Ancient Cat is on new medication, and seems to be perkier. He is looking a little less scrawny and dehydrated, and has a spring to his step. It's nice to see.

It got kind of cloudy and windy and broody, though no rain yet.

That did mean I chose to work with River indoors, since I didn't know what to expect.

He was in a good frame of mind, and his breathing was good. We did our usual work, and he was quite responsive today, which is nice.

He didn't seem worried about the wind picking up and making a lot of noise inside the tent-like arena.

After that we came home, my Sweetie did some baking for his lunches, and I had a nap.

We ate, watched an episode of "Silo", and then he headed to bed.
