Sep. 24th, 2025 11:53 pmToday I am grateful for:
Good sleep.
A relaxed pace to the day.
I did do some laundry. I did dishes and general wiping of the stove and counter top.
Then I did normal chores, and painted in the pottery studio for an hour or so. Slow going, because I was trying to paint the studs and such. We're painting all the wood in the frame to reduce the residual mouse smell.
It has to be finished soon, we're veering into cooler weather, and paint won't set if it's too cool.
R came to our place again for another lesson with Dandy. This helps me immensely with him, since I am trying to teach him to drive, and I have very little experience with that.
I showed R the work we've been doing with long-lining, and he did well with that. Once we got warmed up and on the same page (for a few minutes every time, Dandy likes to test things) we did some work with the cart.
My Sweetie was home for the lesson, and together the three of us led Dandy with the cart, so that he was between the shafts but not hitched, so that if he was upset it would be easy to get him out.
He was a bit excited, to be expected, but did well overall.
We then moved on to connecting him with the wrap straps on the side of his harness, but not the other connectors (hard to explain). This way, he was pulling the cart and connected, but still pretty easy to get him out of there if he got upset.
He was okay, but close to being a little overwhelmed, so we didn't overdo it.
He got LOTS of breaks and praise during the whole process.
Then we did a bit of Liberty work to sort of let him blow off the tension.
We gave R some of our frozen raspberries from last year, since she says they have been using the ones we gave them for smoothies. We have a whole freezer full of mostly raspberries right now. Not the worst dilemma to have, really.
Then we came in, I made supper, and we ate and chatted.
I felt a little bit "off" today, a bit of congestion. Felt a bit better by evening, we'll see how tomorrow goes.
