Oct. 5th, 2025 12:31 amToday I am grateful for:
Decent sleep.
My Sweetie and Dan, the hired carpenter worked more on the sheds outside. There's more to the pottery studio than I would have thought; they need to put in vents for the insulated roof to avoid condensation, there's some new wiring I guess, a fan (which makes sense). It's good that my husband knows all of this needs to be done.
Dan says they enjoyed the squash, and I said "well, let me know if you'd like some more...".
I took a load to the dump. Some of it was MORE plant pots I decided I didn't need to keep, and those went off to one side in case someone wanted them. There was the old shelves that aren't useful to us, lots of stuff that we decided was garbage, household garbage, and some recycling.
The area in front of the pottery studio isn't clear yet, but better.
After they were done for the day, my Sweetie helped me with Dandy. Dandy really is antsy and bordering on rude for when I need him to just stand still for getting the harness on, but seems to settle down once we just get moving forward.
We did line driving first, then some work with him hitched to the cart, and then I got my Sweetie to sit in the cart while I led Dandy, and Dandy pulled him just fine.
So, then I got in the cart and drove him! My husband did walk beside him to make sure things were okay, but Dandy seemed just fine. I did do some steering and a full, wide turn, and he was good.
So, that's very exciting.
We came in and did some research about what kind of heavy plastic sled would work with the shafts we bought, so that we can come up with a vehicle for winter use.
Then I went through the horse blankets to take some of them to the barn with me, because R is going to do a big trip of blankets to get them all washed.
Some of the liners and necks I can wash at home, so I'll have to get on that. There are also some repairs, of course.
Then we came in, I made supper, and we watched a movie called "The Wild Robot".
I thought the first part of the movie, all the way up to a certain point, was absolutely beautiful, and then it kind of veered off into a weird direction that I didn't feel helped the movie.
Overall, it was good, and very beautifully animated.
Decent sleep.

Date: 2025-10-05 08:07 pm (UTC)The kiln is a different stage.
My friend D from pottery has a kiln and glaze materials, as well as another wheel (we have one, but if we had two we could throw at the same time), and she's willing to sell everything to us.
I haven't got a price from her yet, and I wonder about that. She's....funny about money and might ask a little more than it's really worth on the used market.
We'll have to see.
All I need to throw in the studio is electricity (check) and to have the interior finished with the heater and the ventilation etc. With this helper we have, it's moving along really well.

Date: 2025-10-06 06:46 am (UTC)There will come a time for brass tacks, so we'll have to see. Up until recently, she wasn't willing to sell, and I wonder if it comes time, if she will still decide not to sell.
I can live with whatever she chooses. If she decides not to sell, we can find another kiln.
If she isn't reasonable about the price, same thing.
We'll survive. Our plan does not entirely hinge on her items.
