Oct. 6th, 2025 12:52 amToday I am grateful for:
Sleep.
A good conversation with Sister E, where it finally sounded like she might have been indoors and sitting. Most of the time she accepts my calls, and carries on a conversation while she's driving or doing six other things and I hate that.
My Sweetie and Dan worked mightily on the sheds, getting the roof built on the car port. Now both the new garden shed and the car port have the roof, meaning that doesn't have to happen if it snows. Other work can be completed still, but not as much need to rush (though the rushing has been kinda nice).
"Work" friends dropped by. The one couple has been having some issues, the husband has a pretty bad back, the wife has a sore knee and a sore shoulder, both chronic now. I wonder if she's considered starting the process for knee surgery, as she really looked to be struggling with just walking around our yard.
They stayed to watch us work with Dandy. Dandy was pretty antsy again today about getting harnessed and then hitched, but once hitched seemed fine. I might need to spend more time on him just getting him to chill a bit. He seems to dislike standing still.
I did have my husband sit in the cart for a while as I led Dandy, then I got in and drove. Dandy did very well with all of that.
Then we cleaned up the work area, put things away, and headed to the barn.
We talked for a while with R's husband K, who is a very thoughtful and considerate person. We talked about Dandy's antsiness, and he gave us some thoughts.
River did well today, though maybe a bit off again. I took that into consideration in our work.
We worked indoors, as it was too dark to work outside, and a bit cold once the sun went down.
He was overall very responsive to cues, and his breathing was good.
We came home and ate, and my Sweetie pretty much headed to bed.
