Today I am grateful for:

Not bad sleep. My schedule got a bit different while my Sweetie was away, so today felt like a bit of a correction.

We did chores and such, and then went to town to do pottery.

First, we had to drop his car off at the mechanic's down the road. He needs to get the sun roof repaired, and to get winter tires put on.

Then we went to a person's place to drop off tea.

There is a "free" page for this town, and this woman had posted, asking if anyone had tea, didn't matter what kind.

Well, I've been trying to use up all of our tea for about the last year, though I confess I did also buy a bit more (not much, I swear).

We keep getting tea as gifts from my husband's family, or I guess to be more clear, they buy tea, they don't like it, they give it to him when he visits. Almost every time he goes home, he ends up with more tea.

They think I don't drink caffeine, and that I like herbal teas (not really) so they seem to keep sending it our way.

I end up not drinking it.

We have bought some herbal type teas over the years, or tried some different tea and just not ended up liking it that much. My husband really got into buying tea at one point, and then...stopped drinking tea?

We have so much tea. I keep finding more in the pantry when I go looking for other things.

Anyhow, I've been making a point of drinking tea every evening for months now, trying to use up the odds and ends, the stray bag (the box full of stray bags), all the last leaves in tins, the full tins I've never opened, I was even drinking some of the stuff I just don't like that much. My resolution was to finish most of it before I bought new tea, which might still take another year.

Well, when I saw this ad I jumped on it, and rounded up what I know I won't use. The half tins of fruity black tea we're not finishing, several random teas in wrappers that must have been tucked here and there into office work gifts or the last survivors from packages, and a bunch of stuff from his parents.

It half filled a shopping bag.

She met us outside her apartment, and she looked...like she'd been having a rough time? She looked very surprised to see how much was in the bag, and grateful in a way that kind of hurt. Like, it's nice to get a gift of tea, but maybe she didn't get a lot of nice things happen to her?

Well, she did me a favor by taking a lot of tea off my hands that I really no longer knew what to do with it all. I hope she enjoys it.

Then we went to pottery, and met one person as she was finishing up.

I worked on trimming the lids (I make more than one lid, in case something happens to one of them I have a back up) for the tea pot I was working on, and then I decided to throw several mug bodies.

I want to make a matching pair to go with the tea pot, but sometimes you have to throw several to get two that look right together.

My husband threw a nice bowl, and mucked around trying to get a mug shape he liked, but didn't get one.

It was nice to have his help (he wedges a bunch of balls of clay for me to keep throwing mugs) and especially with clean up.

Then we got groceries, and it wasn't a huge haul this time.

I am grateful to be able to buy groceries, to have the means, a car, the physical ability to do so.

Then we came home and ate, and he headed to bed.

wow i love this tea theme so much!!!!

we are talking about actual tea and then going to make teapots etc! What a great theme

I had a bunch of old herbal tea i think i ended up tossing a lot of it when I moved (one of the 5 times I moved since 2022 haha) and now I am cutting down on coffee and actually miss it!

I have a weird memory of driving to some kids' apartment downtown Asheville years ago because soeone had posted they were giving away blueberries and I got 2 t shirts out of the deal, too

i love the randomness of the free stuff exvhange
