Today I am grateful for:

Decent sleep.

Having some time with my Sweetie before having to go get things done outside.

We went outside, I did chores and he finished up the mowing in parts of the pasture he didn't get done before running out of fuel the other day.

I initiated moving a pile of fence posts so that they joined an existing pile of fence posts. There is no reason to have two separate piles of fence posts. That way they're more out of the way in the pile behind a building instead of in a corral, and we can now mow where they were.

There were quite a few fence posts. It was more of a job than I thought it was going to be.

Then I took a pile of moldy hay over to the bush at the edge of our property (instead of being right by the barn) where it can happily return to soil without being in the way.

Then I raked up some clippings where my husband mowed that were especially thick piles, and might kill the grass underneath it...also taken to the bush to compost.d

That was also a fair amount of effort, as it was several plastic sled loads of hay and clippings that had to be dragged to the bush.

Then we went to dig up the remaining carrots and potatoes. We didn't get a LOT of potatoes, about half a five gallon pail, but that's okay. We don't eat many, really.

We did get another full five gallon pail of carrots.

We have to work out where the carrots will go. Our fridge is pretty full of the FIRST pail of carrots I brought in.

Then I went to the barn to see River. He was happily dirty from rolling after our tiny rain. He hates being wet.

He did well today, as far as energy and effort.

It's weird being at the barn and it's dark when I'm done now.

I chose to NOT see the kittens, though I wanted to, because it is so hard to spend less than half an hour playing with them.

I got home and my Sweetie was in the tub. His back is really bugging him. I am trying to get him to see a physiotherapist, and he's not against the idea, but he needs to commit the time to doing so.

I made supper, we ate and chatted, and tomorrow he apparently took off because he has holidays that need to be used up. Some of our "house work friends" are coming to help with the sheds (hooray!).

I felt like we should have something nice for them to eat, we do try to have something for them for lunch, or to do some baking, something. You have to have SOMETHING to offer people when they come to work.

I made a chocolate zucchini cake that turned out SO WELL! I personally think this might be one of the nicest cakes I've made. It cooked exactly long enough, and has a very nice texture.

My Sweetie made banana bread loaves to take for his lunches this week.

It was actually nice to bake together, and then clean everything up after and have a clean kitchen.

Good hometime progress, and good baking!

Hopefully your spouse will get to a doctor who will be able to identify the kind of pain he's suffering and find the proper way to treat it.

Often, ballet dancers go to physiotherapists for their myriad injuries and pains. It's usually in adjunct to medical assessment first, to rule out any other kind of injury or issue.

I don't have good knees for dance or for anything else, and forcing turnout used to cause pain. My family doctor gave me knee exercises that helped. Bad knee alignment can radiate pain up to the sacroiliac and cause pain that feels like a hip problem. Dancers are always living on borrowed time when it comes to injury.
