October 20
Oct. 20th, 2025 11:37 pmToday I am grateful for:
Sleep, though interrupted a few times.
My Sweetie got up fairly early to go run errands related to "buying more materials" in town, and taking back building materials we did not need from the other building projects and got a hefty refund. Don't ask me why he got materials that valuable that we didn't end up using. It's a mystery to me.
He picked up more tin sheeting to use in the new builds.
Then he went to our "house work friends" place and ended up helping THEM all day today.
They had actually talked to him about coming to our place to work on the sheds, thus me making a cake.
Somehow they decided that our friends needed the help worse, because they needed to finish things related to closing/sealing their building before winter, and I GUESS ours are more ready for it than they are?
I don't know.
He did take the cake, a 9x13 solid chocolate zucchini cake, and brought none of it back. There were four people. I'm glad they enjoyed it.
So, I guess at SOME POINT they'll be coming here to finish sheds/car port? That's basically another weekend of little progress at home.
This is frustrating, because lately I'll ask my husband if he's working on the sheds today, and he's either making another run for materials, or another run to the dump (which he also did today) or helping friends again, but not working at home on our buildings.
It seems like he won't do much building at home unless there are other people there cheering him on.
Sigh.
So I didn't even see him all day either.
I went to town for pottery and groceries.
I picked up jewelry making stuff from a person on Marketplace.
I went to the vet clinic and bought pet food, which cost more than OUR groceries today.
I went to pottery, but had very little time, so I did some trimming and that's about it.
Had a vigorous discussion with two other women about the issues facing teachers; we were all on the same side.
Then I got groceries, after resisting the siren call of Winner's.
I am very grateful for being able to buy groceries; having the means, the physical ability, a car, and so on.
I came home, I made supper while my Sweetie soaked in the tub again, and we chatted for a while.
Then I looked through the bead stuff; some of it I won't use, some of it I might use, there are useful findings like clasps and beading wire that I'll use. It was a decent haul for the price. The person selling is moving at the end of the month, and just wanted to move it along.
