Today I am grateful for:

Good sleep, and waking to sunshine.

Managing to have a sincere, friendly talk with the guy who keeps bringing his dog over, about why I need him to keep her in the kennel when she's here (because I've had problems with dogs in the past attacking/killing goats). Here's the weird thing; he and his wife used to have sheep, and THEY had a lot of problems with people's dogs killing their sheep. Once they had seven killed at one time. So why, if he has had similar experiences with people's dogs killing his animals, does he not do more to leave his dog in the kennel or at home, where there is no risk of her attacking MY animals? I don't know if this little talk will change anything, but I have to make sure there's no chance that he misunderstands the situation.

The guys pressing onwards with the basement, getting more gravel into the bottom, and the styrofoam blocks arriving (the preferred method of building a basement here in Canada is to use styrofoam as building block forms that get filled with concrete, so that in the end there is insulation on both sides of the concrete, creating a very well insulated basement).

My sweetie did the stuff we couldn't do on Saturday; getting the trailer load of metal to the scrap yard and picking up our new lawnmower.

Getting some mowing done. It hasn't been mowed for a few weeks, and it is almost too tall to mow. I got going and got some of it done.

Getting some lilacs trimmed so I could mow closer. The branches had grown out a lot over the summer. I also consolidated piles of lumber and so on in such a way that I could mow more of the lawn.

A nice walk around the horse pasture with my sweetie and Roxy.

Dandy (pony) was much better about me cleaning his hoofs tonight. I'm going to do this most nights now, until this too is no big deal, just like picking his feet up. The ponies are really getting a head start on their winter coats, and are noticably fluffy already.
